Chapter 18

Calvin and Charles Wallace took Chad to the police department. 

Andy and Jill were packing their stuff and getting ready to go out.

"Hi, guys" said Andy.

"Chad, you look horrible. You should be in bed" said Jill.

"He insisted we take him to Idina" said Calvin.

"Where is she?" Chad whispered.

"Booked" said Andy. 

"So she is in a cell?" said Chad.

"Sorry" said Andy.

"Andy... there must be some mistake. Idina couldn't possibly drive Calvin's car. She's too little to even reach the pedals" said Chad.

"Chad, we found her behind the wheel" said Andy.

"Calvin..." Chad growled.

"For the tenth time, I did not do anything. I swear my car engine was off" said Calvin.

"But it's still your fault for not looking after her carefully enough" said Chad before coughing violently.

"At least I wasn't involved in it" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles, you're not off the hook either. You still didn't watch Kristen close enough. If you had, she'd never have eaten that marker" said Chad.

"Chad, you are not passing the blame on that one. That's just a natural flaw for a kid" said Andy.

"Just show me Idina, Andy" said Chad.

Andy sighed and looked at Jill. "I'll meet you outside."

Then she led the boys down a hall to the cell where Idina was crying.

Chad was crying too at the sight of his little girl in a jail cell.

He looked at Andy with a tearful face.

Andy read his expression, nodded her head and allowed him into the cell.

Chad rushed in, scooped Idina up and let her cry on his shoulder.

"Oh, Idina... my poor baby. Oh, thank goodness you're not hurt" Chad cooed.

"Seriously?" Calvin whispered.

"Uh, Chad? Idina is the one in the cell. So how come you're mad at Calvin?" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles, please! I'm mad at both of you because both my kids are damaged" said Chad.

Andy sighed. "This is worse than last week when Charles Wallace and Jeremy lost Idina and Kristen in the mall."

"Jeremy too?" Chad gasped. 

"But we didn't give up then did we?" said Charles Wallace.

"No, not from what I heard" said Andy.

"The store owner wanted to call the cops, but Jeremy insisted we keep looking. 'We're gonna find our babies if it takes all day' he said!" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles..." said Chad.

"And we did find them" Charles Wallace finished.

"What is wrong with you?" said Chad.

"So we're not gonna give up now" said Calvin.

Chad sighed and hugged Idina once again.
