"Lexy, come on nuh."

Shanice shouted from the door of their apartment as she grew tired of waiting.

"Mi a come! Mi a put on mi shoes."

Alexis shouted back from the living room as she struggled to put on her sneakers. She grabbed her bag, checking to see if she had everything she needed, and then left with Shanice.

"Dem people yah nuh have tings fi do? Every day dem a look pan mi like mi have on sumting fi them," Shanice complained, cursing.

Alexis shook her head. "A so yuh a guh mek every likkle ting bother yuh?"

Shanice kissed her teeth in response.

"So, what you said the plan for today was?" asked Alexis, moving on.

"You know me when it comes to my hair, right?" responded Shanice.

"Nuh tell me seh a dat yuh really ago duh?" Alexis sounded exasperated.

"But of course. So hurry up and come on so we can get back early and do it," Shanice ordered.

The girls left and went to the shopping mall where they could find the necessary tools for Shanice's hair. As they perused the different shops in the mall, Shanice sighed.

"Dem nuh have nutten fi natural hair? Gosh man."

"If you did know seh yuh ago end up do dis, why yuh neva bring your own things?"

As they bantered amongst themselves, they felt eyes on them.

"Yo Shawty, dah guy deh nuh stop watch wi," observed Alexis.

Shanice looked over to where she was motioning and saw a tall, muscular African-Indian guy staring at them.

"He's just like the rest of them," Shanice cheupsed. "Come on yah, Lexy, mek wi guh check the other stores."

She and Alexis headed for the exit.
At that point, the guy walked up to them.

"If you're looking for what I think you're looking for, then the store over there would probably have what you want."

He pointed to one of the other stores, to which he walked over and entered.
Shanice and Alexis looked at each other.

"You think wi fi still guh over there?" asked Alexis.

"Listen to mi, mi nah mek nuhbody stop mi from get weh mi want. If him try nutten, mi jus kick him inna him balls," responded Shanice, marching towards the store.

Inside the store, they saw the guy picking up items. Being wary of him, they walked around the store with caution. Shanice stumbled upon some products that could do the job. As they discussed, the guy walked up to them.

"Have you found everything?" he asked.

Shanice looked at him from head to toe.

"Why? Do you work here or something?"

"No, but I was just curious. That's why I asked."

"Well, that's none of your business. Now, could you excuse us, please?"

"I can understand that you're probably wary of strangers, so let me properly introduce myself. My name is Dwayne Badu," he said, with hand outstretched.

Shanice looked at him with her eyebrow raised. Alexis, who had been quiet the entire time, spoke up as she could feel the tension in the air.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Badu. Now, if you'll excuse us, we must be on our way." She nodded, pushing Shanice towards the cash register.
