As the morning progressed, Min-Jun and Suk-Chin tried their utmost best to get the phone from Shanice so that they could delete the video. While everyone was distracted, Alexis received a text from Dwayne.

About what happened that night - I apologize. I wasn’t myself. Please give me the chance to make it up to you.

Alexis read the message and was conflicted. As she knitted her brows, Shanice noticed.

“Lexy, yuh alright?” asked Shanice.

“Yeah man, mi good,” reassured Alexis, placing her phone down to charge.

Later on, after the boys had left, Alexis called out to Shanice.

“Shawty, mi have something fi show yuh.”

She showed her the text message.

“Weh him a text yuh fah? Tell him fi fuck off.” Shanice kissed her teeth.

Alexis decided not to respond at all. She ignored Dwayne’s message and resolved to ignore him totally.

The weekend passed, and the girls attended classes as if nothing had happened. It continued that way for a few days. Jia, who would normally be in close proximity wherever Min-Jun was, was nowhere to be seen or heard.

One of the days when class was dismissed early, the girls decided to head home immediately.

“You know shawty, it kinda weird,” said Alexis.

“Wah? Weh yah talk bout?” responded Shanice.

“When last yuh si dah girl deh?”

Shanice, wondering whom Alexis was talking about, wore a puzzled expression.

“Ooh. Cho, girl don’t even bother bringing her up. She nuh worth the brain space.”

As the girls exited the school building, they saw a familiar face leaning up against a car. The person waved. A look of discomfort engulfed Alexis’ face. Seeing this, Shanice stepped forward to confront him, but Alexis grabbed her.

“Let’s not create a scene.”

She cautioned as they headed in the direction of the car and its owner.

“Hey, Alexis. I’ve been trying to get to you for a few days now, but you haven’t been picking up my calls or responding to my messages. So, I thought it best to come here,” said Dwayne.

“Suh if you see that she’s ignoring you, why yuh come here?” asked Shanice, giving attitude.

Dwayne ignored her. He pushed himself forward, walking closer towards the girls. Alexis took a step back.

“Alexis, please. It was a mistake. I must have been out of my mind from the liquor.” Said Dwayne.

Alexis’ eyes were cast down and filled with conflict. Dwayne saw this and reached out his hand to touch her. Shanice took a protective stance in between them, slapping Dwayne’s hand away.

“So weh yah touch har fah!?” Questioned Shanice. “Nuh bumboclaat touch har!” she shouted.

After hearing Shanice’s outburst, Alexis looked up to see students observing them. Not wanting to create a scene on the compound, Alexis suggested they go somewhere else to deal with the matter at hand. Though she was against going anywhere else with Dwayne, she thought that this was the best option they had.

Alexis pulled Shanice aside and whispered, “After the whole incident with Jia, we can’t afford anymore unwanted attention.”

Shanice thought for a moment, then spoke up, “ alright, fine. This give me a betta opportunity fi send him up unda him mada. And mek him eva try nutten, mi aguh mash up him bumboclaat.”
