With everything now taken care of, things seemed normal. Though the girls were curious as to why Dwayne’s messages suddenly stopped, the boys kept their mouths shut. Soon after, rumours started spreading around the campus.

“Did you hear? Min-Jun is dating that foreigner!”

Alexis became the talk of the school, being envied by her schoolmates. Everywhere she turned, she felt eyes watching her.

One day, while Alexis and Shanice were alone at lunch, whispers could be heard from students who were nearby. Shanice began to knit her brows.

“Yo if unnuh nah guh talk inna har face,  nuh seh nutten. Unnuh mouth mussy stink, mek unnuh a whispa!” she exclaimed.

“Shawty! Guh easy nuh, man. Weh yah pay dem mind fah?”

Everyone stared at them.

“A wah?! Unnuh suh bumboclaat disgusting, kmt. All yuh, Lexy, mi nuh know how yah siddung and a tek this. Yah mussy pope. Cho.”

“Yuh already tek dem on, so mi nuh affi seh nutten,” said Alexis as she hugged Shanice and laughed.

“Let mi guh man, cho.” Shanice cut her eyes.

The rumours got to Jia, who decided enough was enough. One day, she approached Alexis while they were heading off campus.

“Is it true?” asked Jia.

Alexis turned around, confused. She looked at Shanice.

Shanice rolled her eyes.
“What-”

“I’m not talking to you.” Jia cut her off, then turned back to Alexis. “Are the rumours true?” she asked again.

Shanice walked off, trying to cool herself.

“What’s the question again?” asked Alexis with a carefree expression.

Jia’s demeanour turned to one of annoyance.

“Not only can’t you read a room, you’re also deaf. I asked if you’re dating Min.”

Alexis smiled.

“I don’t see why that is any of your business, but seeing that you’re his ‘friend’, I'll answer you. Yes, we’re seeing each other.”

Jia became furious, but Alexis started walking away.

“HEY!” yelled Jia.

Alexis stopped and turned around.

“Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you date Min-Jun! You have no right. People like you should just stay in the lowly place that you belong! People like you are nothing but thieves! And-”

Before Jia could finish, she felt a slap across her face.

“That’s enough out of you. I’m tired of hearing your spoiled little ass complain. And don’t you dare ever again try to disrespect my race. This is me going easy on you.” Alexis left.

Jia stood in shock, holding her cheek. In the distance, she saw Min-Jun and Suk-Chin looking at her. Shanice stared, mouth opened, surprised. Tears welled up in Jia’s eyes. Not wanting Min-Jun to see her like that, she ran away.
Min-Jun was about to move towards Jia when Suk-Chin stopped him.

“Pretty sure you wouldn’t want to lose Alexis over this. Plus, Jia had this coming.”

Min-Jun stopped in his tracks.

“Don’t even bother going to Alexis. Her aura is that of ‘death’. I'm pretty sure it’s ‘game over’ for you if you make the wrong move.”

Suk-Chin turned to realize that Min-Jun was already headed to find Alexis.
