Speeding had never felt like a crime to me.

Never did I bat an eye at the speeds I was going anytime and anywhere; until today.

Speeding with my girl in the car, injured and badly hurt, felt like the worst thing I could be doing right now. One unexpected stop or sharp turn and I could put her at even more risk. But I trust that I know my way back to the cabin well enough to be prepared for the drive and get through it as fast as I can.

I've already called the medics I have waiting at the cabin, whom I brought just in case of any emergencies. I explained the situation and told them to be ready on my arrival with Elodie and I swear to fuck if they're not-

"Señorita... Señorita DeLaine, podría reducir la velocidad un poco? No creo que la alta velocidad a la que vas ahora sea la mejor-"
(Translation: Miss... Miss DeLaine, could you slow down a little? I don't think the high-speed you're going now is the best-)

Is he fucking serious? "I'm not fucking slowing down we have to get back to the cabin as fast as possible- she's bleeding out you think I'm going to take my time getting back-"

"Har," Elodie's voice stops mine completely and my eyes avert to my rearview mirror instantly to look at her. Her eyes are fluttering closed, but I notice her trying to look at me.

"Elodie?" I say, my voice calm and hushed.

"Slow down Harlow, please."

I can't bear hearing her hurt and plead. I relax my foot on the accelerator and let my speed fall lower, as the car slows down slightly. This overwhelms and worries me, making me contemplate if we'll make it on time, but I can't ignore her words.

"Are you okay? How are you feeling? Is she okay?" I question quickly, throwing questions at both Elodie and my medic to get my mind off of how much we have left to go until we're at the cabin.

"I'm okay, it just hurts," Elodie mutters, loud enough for me to hear her.

"We'll be there soon baby, don't worry and stay calm, can you do that for me?" I curse myself for letting the name slip in front of my medic, but I also couldn't care less right now. He isn't the one I care about in this car.

"Mhm." El hums in response to my question, which makes me relax slightly.

"She should be okay DeLaine, I've wrapped her wound and I've cleaned her up a bit but we have to wait until we're back at the cabin to stitch her up and take care of the wound better."

I nod at him in my rearview mirror, then go back to keeping an eye out on the road.

I turn off the main onto a smaller road, one leading into the forest surrounding the cabin.

"Cinco minutos, prepárate."
(Translation: Five minutes, get ready.)
