The morning sun streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over Giyuu Tomioka's small kitchen. He had risen early, careful not to disturb his adopted son, Haruki, who was still sleeping peacefully in the adjacent room. The events of the previous night, with the storm and the comforting embrace they had shared, were etched in Giyuu's mind, filling him with a sense of contentment he hadn't felt in a long time.

Giyuu moved gracefully around the kitchen, the scent of breakfast filling the air as he prepared a simple meal. He wanted to start the day on a positive note for Haruki, who had been through so much already.

As Giyuu flipped a pancake in the skillet, he heard a soft rustling from the doorway. Turning his head, he saw Haruki standing there, his eyes still heavy with sleep but curiosity flickering within them.

"Good morning, Haruki," Giyuu greeted with a soft smile, though his heart was filled with warmth. "Sleep well?"

Haruki nodded, his gaze fixed on the pancakes. "Yeah, thanks for letting me sleep with you, Father... I mean, Giyuu."

Giyuu's heart skipped a beat at the accidental slip of the tongue. He turned to face Haruki, his eyes wide with surprise. "Father?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.

Haruki's cheeks turned a shade of crimson as he realized his mistake. "I-I mean, I didn't mean to say that," he stammered, suddenly shy.

But Giyuu couldn't contain his happiness. He knelt down to Haruki's eye level and placed a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder. "Haruki, it's okay. You can call me 'Father' if you want to."

Haruki's eyes welled up with tears of relief and happiness. "Father... I like that," he said, a small smile tugging at his lips.

Giyuu's heart swelled with emotion as he hugged Haruki tightly. "I like it too, Haruki."

After their heartwarming exchange, they enjoyed breakfast together, savoring the pancakes and the newfound connection between them. Once the meal was finished, Giyuu decided to put his thoughts and feelings into writing.

Sitting down at the wooden table, he penned a letter to his former master, Sakonji Urokodaki, explaining Haruki's situation, how he had saved the boy from a demon, and the decision to adopt him as his own. He expressed his gratitude for the training and guidance Urokodaki had provided, which had prepared him for this unexpected but deeply rewarding role as a father.

As he sealed the letter, Giyuu knew that the path he had chosen was the right one. Haruki had brought light and warmth into his life, dispelling the doubts and darkness that had haunted him for so long. Together, they would face the challenges that awaited them, bound not just by duty, but by the unbreakable bond of family.
