For Ratchet, he had no idea how it had been since you found him trapped in the chains above in the Chop Shop after the final battle. As he walked back to your apartment, he thought about the times, the days that passed since you found him after the final battle. All he knew was he possibly didn't deserve your sympathy, even when you helped him and his father down. But there are several things you know so damn well about him. One was how badly he needed help because of his mother's parenting ways.

Despite how many times the Rusties had warned you about being around Ratchet, you still made sure that he got the help he needed. Getting a fair job, albeit with a low income; putting him into therapy to help sort out the issues he's developed thanks to his mother; even having his father fixed up after hanging from the ceiling for so long. You had understood how wary the bots affected badly by him were, you couldn't blame them, but you also couldn't blame Ratchet for going along with Madame Gasket's plans.

The once high-and-mighty bot had no idea what, how, and why he deserved your kindness and sympathy, but it was enough for him to know that what he went through was not normal and that he needed to change himself for the better.

As days passed, he got better, and the terrible ways that had plagued him because of Madame Gasket became nothing more than faint memories. He knew that some bots out there in the City wouldn't forget or forgive him for what he had done, but he was willing to do whatever it takes to make up for the misery he helped his mother put them through. And that included thanking you for taking him in when he was on the verge of losing his insanity.

Throughout his time with you, you had been nothing but patient, understanding, and willing to step in to get you out of the darkness after Madame Gasket finally bit the dust, despite the warnings you received from the bots his mother had tormented for so long. And the therapy you had put in to sort out the issues and mental problems he had because of her had really opened his eyes and mind to what he had gone through.

And the fact that you had been there for him when he least expected it made him understand how much of an idiot and dick he was in terms of dating. The dating advice he got from his mother turned out to be even worse than he had been led to believe, and the therapist, who had been the saint he needed other than you, gave him better insight on dating as well, so it was a miracle the advice he got from therapy worked so well.

Leading to him entering the apartment he now shared with you. His feet dragged behind him after his body suffered a long day of work, his hands gently dropping the bag to the floor as he made his way to your bedroom.

By then, you were already in bed, (F/B) in hand as you turned the pages every few minutes. You didn't pay any attention to Ratchet at the moment until you felt the bed shift and arms wrap around your waist some moments later. But you didn't need to look at him, even with his resting his head against your shoulder. You could feel his eyes studying one page at a time before he nearly succumbed to sleep.

What seemed like hours later, Ratchet was now asleep, his cheek resting against your bare shoulder. You couldn't help but let out a quiet chuckle at his sleeping form. He is adorable like this. As quietly as you could, you set the book on the nightstand, turned off the light, and laid him down on the bed next to you, pulling the covers over you both.

"You've come this far, Phin. Don't ever stop..." you silently told him, caressing his face. In his slumber, he smiled softly from your touch.

You were right. He's come this far, and he's not going to give up now.
