Unexpected Love

Chapter 18

Thorin tries to sum up and tell Fehlina as briefly as possible all about the dwarves' quest and mission, the dangers along the way, and what they're expecting if they manage to reach The Lonely Mountain.
"But since we're captured and imprisoned at the moment, I don't know where we'll go from here," Thorin sighs.
"Why didn't you make a deal with Thranduil?" Fehlina asks.
"You wouldn't understand," Thorin answers.
"Then help me understand," Fehlina says.

Thorin tells her about how the elven king didn't aid his people when they were left homeless and ruined by Smaug.
Fehlina knows that Thranduil chose not to interfere in the dwarves' suffering. She thought it was a really rotten and unforgiving thing to do.
Thorin tells her that the king will not help them because of an old quarrel between him and his grandfather, Thror.
Fehlina doesn't quite understand why Thorin and Thranduil aren't able to come to an arrangement of sorts, but she guesses that their hate for one another goes back so far and so deep, it's simply impossibe.

"We can't stay here much longer," Fehlina says.
"If they're to find out I've been talking to you, they will banish me. Or worse."
"I don't want you to get in trouble," Thorin says, gazing at her face, into her bright, blue eyes and smiles.
"I'm already in trouble." Fehlina states and gives him a passionate kiss.
They embrace each other and kiss intensly for a moment before slowing down, knowing they must to stop, and go back.
Fehlina looks into his eyes.
"I love you," she says. "I just wanted you to know that if this is the only chance I have to tell you." Thorin beams. "I love you too!" he declares and gives her a kiss to seal his statement. Unchecked, they give in to a stolen session of sultry kisses, before they really have to be getting back to the dungeons, Thorin's empty cell surly to rise suspicion sooner than later.
It's already most risky, and a guard has noticed that Thorin's not back in his hold-up yet.
