Unexpected Love

Chapter 20

Hours go buy, and suddenly, when it's almost dawn, Fehlina hears that the dungeons are empty. Someone has beaten her to it. But who? And how?
She rushes to her room and changes into her warrior outfit as fast as she can.
Then she runs to join the guards that went looking for the missing prisoners.

She's shocked and humored at the same time when she sees Thorin and the other dwarves in barrels floating down the river.
It's a rather great escape plan, except from one thing; the elves have shut the gate, which is the only way out of there.
Then another problem occurs; they're being attacked by orcs.

Fehlina and the guards fight with skilled precision and slaughter many of the orcs, keeping the kingdom safe, and the dwarves alive.
Suddenly one of the dwarves manages to open the gate. She notices Thorin just before he disappears down the river.

The orcs run after the barrels, so Fehlina, Legolas and a few other elves charge after them.
They continue to fight and kill, but the orcs are clearly only after the dwarves, Thorin especially, as they chase down the river at full speed.
Fehlina's and Thorin's eyes meet once before he's long gone down the river.

Legolas stops the chase, deciding they won't go any futher. They've captured an orc, and are to bring the foul creature back to be questioned by the king.
