Unexpected Love

Chapter 27

"Thorin!" a young dwarf shouts when Thorin and Fehlina appear.
"Kili!" Thorin manages to say before Kili gives Thorin a speach on how he will not stand down from this battle, that it's not in his blood.
Thorin nods. Then he looks at his kin.
"I have no right, to ask this of any of you. Will you follow me, one last time?"
One by one the dwarves get up.
"We'll fight with you till the end," Dwalin says.
"Very well then," Thorin nods, standing proud at his company's resolve.
He still has to lessen the burden he's brought on them by turning to the dark in a moment of weakness, but having their swords in battle helps to bear it for the time being. Though time is running out, and beyond the gate to Erebor it might come to a final end.

Thorin looks at Fehlina.
"Stay here, be safe," he says.
"I will not stay behind. I will fight and die by your side," Fehlina states. "I love you," she adds, whispering.
Thorin takes her hand, looking up at his fair elf maiden with reverence. "I love you too," he says.

Ori and Dori sigh, thinking it's really romantic to witness this declaration of love among all the wrath and ruin that have been their cruel companions since they left The Shire.
"Well, enough of this," Dwalin growls. "We got a war to win!"

The dwarves shatters the stone wall, a massive bell clearing a path for them to run outside and join the fighting forces. Thorin's leading them into the midst of peril. Fehlina's by his side, arrows flying from her bow.
They charge into the army of orcs and tolls and fight like there's no tomorrow.
Thorin encounters his cousin, Dain, on the battlefield, the lord leading the Iron Hills army, and they embrace in a brief, merry greeting before they have to swing their weapon of choice to stay alive.

Suddenly battle horns go off with new orders from the leader of the enemy.
"Azog!" Thorin shouts. "Let's kill that piece of filth!"
Fili, Kili, Dwalin and Fehlina join him, heading for Ravenhill where The Pale Orc was last spotted. They're attacked by orcs and wargs along way, but fight their way through, coloring the ground with their black blood.
When they reach the top, Azog is nowhere to be seen, so Thorin sends Fili and Kili inside the ruins to look for him.
Fehlina wipes at her bloody lip. Some orc hit her hard in close combat.
Then Bilbo comes to warn them; more orcs are on their way.
