Mimi fans herself, blowing cool air in her face as she tries to catch her breath.

"Oh my god! Has it always been this crowded? It seems like the whole fucking state decided to come." she paces back and forth as a hip-hop dance team's performance comes to an end.

"I can't do this—" Taking her hands in mine, I gently guide her away from the backstage curtains. I don't know why she's all of a sudden got stage fright.

She's never cared about how many people are watching her or if anyone at all is in that crowd. Her goal has always been to showcase her talents. She wants to be one of the best dancers in the world. She wants to hear people talk about her like she's a star in the sky.

And it's always come easy to her because she is a star.

The star.

"Margot breathe. In...and out." I mimic the breathing exercise and she follows, her eyes straying back to the crowd. "Eyes on me. Tell the story right? That's all that matters." soon her breathing slows down to a steady pace.

"Thank you, Kenji. It's just that...never mind. I'm just nervous is all." she smiles up at me but I can see right through it.

Her hands still in mine, I step closer. "What's wrong? Please tell me." I just want to help and I want her to know that she can talk to me. She sighs as her eyes look between mine, wondering whether or not she should tell me.

"It's my m—" As she begins to explain what's up with her, the group walks off the stage and our names are called.

"Good luck." they whisper and shoot a thumbs up our way. I smile before I put all my attention on Margot I reassure her that everything will be okay. "You got this, M! Just, I done know, picture the crowd in their underwear." I can see her tense demeanor slipping away, quickly replaced with a crooked smile.

"Well considering my dads out there, I'll pass. But thank you though." she chuckles and shakes her head softly before we make our way onto the stage, bright lights shine down on us as the crowd claps and cheers.

The music starts as we get into position and we quickly fall into a rhythm. The auditorium falls silent as the dance plays out, the sad song coursing through the speakers.

Emotion.

Raw emotion is laced through this dance and on my part, it's real.
