I've never had someone so openly show their feelings for me. I've never had someone tell me on repeat that they'll wait for me. I've never been willing to look this far out of my comfort zone.

At least, not for as long as I can remember.

Jhanvi is different.

She's outgoing and smiles so much I wonder if her cheeks ever hurt. She doesn't care what people think or say about her. She's an extrovert beyond all measures.

I've never sought out someone who's so straightforward or open about what they feel.

But maybe that's where I've gone wrong.

It's been two weeks since I've been... seeing her? Dating her? I don't know what we would even call this.

She hasn't brought up going on a date with me since we met in the cafe but we've done stuff that would be seen as a date.

I've even been hanging with her and Kamala a lot. They're pretty cool people. They like to go out a lot.

Again, something I don't do a lot.

She's come around mom a lot and she's been really happy. I've never seen Mom laugh and smile so much.

Anita on the other hand hasn't made many appearances.

"Your mom seems really interested in learning how to watercolor." Jhanvi sits next to me on the outdoor couch.

Jhanvi is an artist.

She specializes in watercolor but she also makes and paints pottery.

I chuckle, knowing Mom is just happy that I brought someone home.

Jhanvi somehow managed to get her parents and my parents to throw a barbecue. Her two brothers and younger sister plus her parents drove 2 hours to credence.

She's very persuasive.

"That's because you're the one teaching her. She adores you." she smiles at that, looking back at my mother and hers under the cabana painting butterflies.

"Well, your mom is very sweet." she takes my hand in hers, playing with the silver rings on my fingers.

I scoff. "When she gets what she wants." she looks at me. Considering whether or not to dig deeper into what I just said but eventually votes against it.
