I check myself in my visor mirror, my car parked in Sadia's driveway. My makeup was more on the natural side.

I decided it would be wise to dress modestly for Sadia's sake, so I'm wearing a loose white sweater and straight legged jeans with white forces.

With a sigh I grab my book bag and get out before approaching the door. I knock and wait a little nervously. I can't help but be scared, thinking Farbod might recognize me or something, how he would I don't know but I do look like my Mamá. I also just want to make a good impression to Sadia's mother even though I'm only showing up as her friend. I'm a people pleaser.

Sadia already texted me that her parents don't care for me to stay the night so I'm happy about that, it feels like it's been forever, we FaceTime every night and fall asleep on the phone together but it's not the same. I want to wake up and have her next to me.

The door opens to reveal my beautiful girlfriend, blue eyes twinkling and I know it's because of me. I'm surprised to see her without a hijab, her long hair flowing across her shoulders freely. She's wearing a black  tight-fitting long sleeve t-shirt with high waisted jeans.

"Hi." I whisper with a smile.

She giggles quietly. "Hi, the food should be done in a little. We can wait in my room."

I plan on doing a little more than waiting.

"Ok." I follow her in, closing the door behind us. "We'll be in my room!" She announces as we walk to the stairs. Her father is in the living room sitting on the couch. I don't bother to greet him, I don't even know him yet don't like him.

"Wait!" Her father says from the living room. We stop and wait for him.

He's slightly taller than me unlike Sadia's mother and dressed in casual business wear. His chin has a neatly groomed beard and his hair is slicked back likely with gel. I can definitely see some of him in Sadia, especially his facial structure but other than that she favors her mother.

"You look familiar? Who are your parents?" He stops next to us, looking me over with a frown.

Sadia sighs beside me, only I hear it.

I answer with a lie of course, "Aiko and Joseph Walker." It just makes sense to use Li's parents, I already used their last name. Aiko and Joseph really are like a second set of parents just as Owen and Hector are.

He hums. "Nevermind then." He looks me over one last time before turning around and going back to the living room.

I follow Sadia to her room and set my bag down by her bed, watching her close the door behind us.

"You look beautiful." I comment as she approaches with a smile.

She lets her eyes trail me over. "So do you."

I meet her half way, letting my hands go to her hips. No time is wasted as she pulls me into a longing kiss with arms around my neck

When she pulls away she pecks my cheek before her head finds my shoulder. "I hate this." She mutters. "I wish you could be here as my girlfriend."

"Me too." I sigh with my head against hers. "How come you don't have to wear your hijab right now?" I decide to ask.

She steps out of my arms to my disappointment but I know it would be smart to stay like that for too long.

"You're a girl and my parents don't know you're intersex so you're allowed to see me and my Maman without one." She explains, walking to her bed.

"Oh." I join, laying next to her.
