It was certainly hard to remove a persisting thought from your mind, Beam figured. Especially so, when you already noticed it once. Now that you had already noticed its existence, it was harder to look away.

The young pediatrician watched as Perm got ready for yet another –what he had called – business trip.

"Can't you just opt out this time?" Beam finally inquired, breaking the thick silence that had engulfed them both.

Perm turned towards him sighing heavily. "Why are you being like this now? You already know how frequently I need to attend these kinds of trips."

Beam sharpened his eyes.

"Yeah, I knew. Which is exactly the reason why I am asking if you could opt out this time. Why is it always you anyway?" Beam did not even bother to hide his annoyance towards Perm's answer then.

"Beam, please... It's only a week." Perm finally said, voice soft as if he was begging for Beam to not push this any further.

But Beam was annoyed by this ordeal. His boyfriend's so called business trips were getting more frequent that Beam wondered if they were all just business trips.

"It's a week, Perm. You don't remember what date it will be this Friday?" Beam asked, trying his best to hide away his pain.

Perm kneeled down and grabbed Beam's two hands into his hold. The guy then softly whispered as he kissed the back of the hand.

"Beam, please... You know I have no choice..."

Beam scowled at the answer. It was not everyday that he asked something out of Perm, yet the other still failed to fulfill his rare wishes.

"Then, can you leave on Saturday instead?" Beam asked, a deep scowl remained on his face as his lips tugged slightly downward.

Perm did not reply, instead he wordlessly kissed the back of Beam's hand again.

The young pediatrician blinked once. Then twice.

Before he silently pulled his hands away. "Mn, I give up. Go then,"

Perm seemed to be taken aback by the reaction he was giving, but Beam, at that very moment, could not care less. It was yet another promise Perm made that he mercilessly broke.

"Beam, I love you." Perm softly said. His eyes seemed concerned as he looked at Beam.

But Beam could not bring himself to care as much as he felt he should. He kept mum as Perm panicked even more.

"Beam, please..." Beam looked dead into those hazel colored eyes. "I got it, you don't have a choice."

Beam knew he was not Perm's first choice anymore. Beam realized that he had not been one since their third month of relationship.

"I will make it up to you, I promise." Perm reassured but Beam could not bring himself to believe in Perm's promises any longer.

The guy broke too many promises, even his words had lost their meanings a long time ago. Beam blinked quietly, before dismissively nodded his head. He just refused to argue about it even further. There would be no change even if he had argued.
