Prologue

Damon was a human (at the time) thrashed left and right by his father everyday, beaten up, called a mistake and a disappointment just for making a single mistake, he was trying to keep himself from lashing out on Stefan and at the same time protect him from the beatings of their father, he would be forced to cut trees, feed the horses and cook food instead of having a nice life he could enjoy.

Elijah was an original vampire and a former viking, while he wasn't abused like Damon or his brother Klaus, he was forced to train in combat from a young age, after he became a vampire his father started hunting him and all his other siblings and they had to be on the run constantly, they would stay in a place for sometime and then go off to some far place again.
