Tw: slight alcoholism, violence, some swearing

------------------------------------------------------

She let herself into his apartment, seeing him stressing out, yet again.
"What do you want?" He said.
"I want you to fix your attitude."
"What's wrong with my attitude?"
"You're banging on the walls again."
"I can't help it! My new boss is driving me crazy!"
"You miss Ray?
"No, I dont."
"Don't lie to me, sit down and keep your hands away from the walls."

Henry sat down, crossing his arms.
"What'd your boss do that's annoyed you so much?"
"He's constantly breathing down my neck, always telling me what to do, and if I make one mistake, he blows up at me."
"So you're taking it out on the walls?"
"I'm trying to let off steam, okay? Can't you understand that?"
"Go and have a bath."
"A bath?" He raises an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that suggestion.
"You do know what a bath is?" She said, making him angrier.

Henry didn't reply, instead he stormed into his bathroom and slammed the door shut. He turned on the shower, letting the water get hot before he stepped in. As he stood there, the heat began to wash away some of his anger. She slowly opened the door.
"Better..?" She asked.
"Get in."
"Excuse me?"
He turned round, looking at her with annoyance. "Get in." He repeated.
"Why?"
"Just get in the fucking shower!"

She undressed, stepping in the shower with him.
"Better now?"
Henry rolled his eyes. "Yes, thank you." He said sarcastically. She ran her hands up his sides, kissing his cheek.
Henry turned his head, clearly surprised.

"Relax."
"I'm trying to." He said softly, still tense from the unexpected touch.
"Try harder."
"I'm not sure if you're trying to make me mad or turn me on." He replied, his voice a mix of annoyance and arousal.
"Both..?"
"Both?" Henry repeated, clearly surprised. "Well, you're doing a good job." He said, unable to hide the heat in his voice.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." He finally admitted, giving in to the heat between them.

Henry continued to wash himself, the water helping to cool his anger. As he felt her body so close to his, he couldn't help but feel a strange mix of annoyance and desire.
"Good to know."
"You are burning to touch me, aren't you?"
"I am not." Henry lied, his heart racing.
"Yes, you are."

He turned around in the shower, his back to her. "You want me to touch you? Fine." He said, grabbing her waist and pulling her against his him.
"Jesus, Henry!"
"Sorry." He said, unable to keep the smile off his face. "But, come on, admit it, you're enjoying this."
"I didn't say I wasn't."

He continued to hold her against him.
"So, what are you gonna do at work tomorrow?"
"Nothing special, just the usual. But, if my boss pisses me off, I might have to punch him."
"Or..?"
"Or, maybe I'll just think about you." He teased, his body still pressed against hers.
"Thank you. Saves you from killing your boss."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." He said, still holding her close. "But don't worry, if things get really bad, I'll just fantasize about punching you instead." He added with a playful smirk.
"Watch your mouth."
"Maybe not then." Henry replied, chuckling softly as he continued to hold her close.

The warm water from the shower felt good against his skin, but the heat between them was even more intense. He couldn't help but wonder how far this strange attraction would go.

"How else are you finding work? Apart from the crap boss."
"I'm also looking on job websites, but those sites are so clogged with shitty jobs. It's hard to find anything that's both interesting and pays well. And even when I find something, I'm not sure if I even want to do it."
"Sounds boring."
"It is. But, hey, at least I've got you to make things interesting."

He said, smirking as he leaned in closer to her. They finished their shower, and she went back to her apartment, trusting Henry not to lose his shit again. As they stepped out of the shower, Henry couldn't help but feel a sense of loss. The warmth and closeness they shared were intoxicating, and he found himself wanting more. He dried off quickly, trying to hide his nervousness about being so alone and vulnerable with her.
