The next day, Chase goes down to Mission Command and sees random things around the room. "What the..." He says.
"Ah! Intruder!" Perry shouts. She shoots at him using a blaster and he moves out of the way.
"Perry!" Chase says.
"Chaz?" Perry says.
"It's Chase," Chase says, an annoyed look on his face.
"I know, but I like the name Chaz better," Perry says, walking over to Chase.
"What are you doing here?" Chase says.
"I decided to take a little vacay from the academy," Perry says.
"So you left a tropical island to vacation in the windowless underbelly of a skyscraper?" Chase says.
"Yep. I have to get my skin back to its natural state. Pale and clammy." Perry says. "Plus, I'm from here."
"You were born in Centium City?" Chase says.
"Nope, under, in a network of tunnels underneath the ground," Perry says, waving the weapon around.
"Okay, how about we put the weapon down?" Chase says, backing away.
"Sorry. When you're born in the bowels of a city, you learn to watch your back. And you also learn that not everything that looks like meat is meat." Perry says.
"Time to go," Chase says. The two of them step onto the Hyper-lift. When Chase presses a button, nothing happens. "Great. Your blast broke the Hyper-lift."
"Well, you're the one that ducked out of the way," Perry says.
An alarm sounds and Perry fires the weapon at the console. "Stop shooting things," Chase says. "It's a mission alert." They walk over to the console. "Your blast put us on lockdown and took out mission command's entire central nervous system. We're trapped." He takes out his phone. "Communication's down, too." Perry groans and shoots at the ceiling, making the lights turn off.
"What did you do that for?" Chase says.
"If we're gonna be stuck down here, I don't wanna have to look at your face," Perry says.
In the living room, Bree, Blake, Skyler, Kaz, Stefan, Oliver, and I were all wearing our mission suits. We got a mission alert and were just about to head out. "Kaz'll be right down," Oliver says as he and Skyler walk downstairs.
"Where's Chase?" I say.
"No idea," Oliver says.
"That's weird. He's always the first one here for missions. Having no life really frees up your calendar." I say. "I'll call him real quick." I pull out my phone and when I dial Chase's number, I get his voicemail.
"Greetings. You've reached Chase, the smartest man in the world. I'm not here, but if you'd like to leave a message for Chase, the smartest man in the world, do it at the beep. And if you didn't know that by now, you are definitely not the smartest man in the world."
"Well, at least he shortened it," I say.
"What are we gonna do? We can't go on our first mission without our leader." Stefan says.
"There's no time to wait. We have to get to the Centium City arch. The glass floor on the observation desk is cracking, and tourists are trapped. We need to get there now." Blake says.
"She's right. Kaz, let's go!" Bree calls out. Before we could head out the door, we heard rock music playing as Kaz walked down the stairs.
"Elite Force!" Kaz sings.
