As the intense council meeting came to an end, Ryis found herself being accompanied back to her chambers by a fresh set of guards. It was hard not to notice the fear etched on their faces as they walked beside her. However, this was nothing new for Ryis. She had grown accustomed to the curious glances and hushed conversations that followed her wherever she went. But she never allowed it to affect her, for she knew that in the vast ocean of life, one must always keep moving forward, lest they become easy prey for the lurking sharks.

As soon as she stepped into her chambers, the heavy doors closed behind her, sealing her inside. It was a necessary precaution to ensure her safety until she grew accustomed to her new surroundings on land. The solitude within those walls provided a sense of security, shielding her from the unfamiliar world outside.

The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow upon the world below. It was a sight she had never witnessed before, viewing it through human eyes. Its radiant white hue seemed to dance upon the ocean's surface, transforming into a mesmerising shade of blue.

Unlike its dull appearance in the night sky, here it shimmered and sparkled, illuminating the darkness and creating an enchanting atmosphere.

As she stepped into the room, a warm and inviting ambiance greeted her. The flickering flames of the blazing fire in the centre of the room cast a soft, golden light, casting dancing shadows on the walls. The gentle glow of the lit candles placed strategically on tables added to the earthy atmosphere, creating a sense of tranquillity and comfort. It was a space where one could escape from the outside world and find solace in the gentle embrace of the room's warm glow.

Ryis strolled around the room, taking in every detail before finally reaching the bed. The sheets were a luxurious silk, a mesmerising ocean blue with intricate patterns sewn into them to resemble gentle waves. It was as if she could almost hear the soothing sound of the sea just by looking at them.

On top of her pillow, neatly folded, was a delicate nightgown. The pristine white fabric was tied elegantly at the front, adding a touch of sophistication to the room. Ryis couldn't help but admire the simplicity and grace of the garment, wondering about the stories it held within its threads.

Curiosity getting the best of her, Ryis picked up the nightgown and watched as it gracefully unfolded itself in her hands. She examined it closely, as if searching for hidden secrets within the fabric. Holding it gingerly, almost as if it were contaminated, she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to this nightgown than met the eye.

Ryis approached the mirror, her reflection staring back at her. She observed her human form, but felt the essence of a siren within her. Her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders in dry, wavy strands.

Unlike the glistening skin of a siren underwater, Ryis's complexion lacked that ethereal glow. Her teeth, far from sharp and ideal for hunting, were instead slightly misaligned and blunt. She couldn't fathom how humans managed to thrive with such imperfections.

As she stood before the mirror, Ryis pondered the stark differences between her human appearance and her siren nature. Despite the discrepancies, she embraced both sides of herself, knowing that her unique blend of traits made her who she was.

After staring at her reflection she ripped herself out of her dress not knowing how to untie it yet. She placed her leg through the hole of the night gown and pulled it up. It was tricky because she didn't have the best motor skills as a human.

With a deliberate pace, she turned around and gracefully walked towards the bed. As she approached, a thought crossed her mind - why do humans require such extravagant furnishings? It was a mystery she knew she would never unravel.

As she slipped under the covers, a sense of uncertainty washed over her. In the depths of the ocean, creatures found solace in the safety of caves, their tails constantly in motion to keep their hearts beating. But here, in this foreign land, she pondered how humans managed to sleep without constant movement.

Lying flat on the bed, she couldn't help but feel like a vampire in a coffin. Her gaze drifted upwards, fixating on the ceiling. The unfamiliarity of it all left her unsure of what to do next. In this moment, she longed for the simplicity of her underwater world, where sleep came effortlessly and without the need for fancy accommodations.

As she drifted into slumber, she couldn't pinpoint the exact moment when sleep overcame her. All she knew was that she succumbed to its embrace. When she finally stirred from her rest, the first rays of the sun were just beginning to peek over the horizon. The bustling sounds of the servants awakening and commencing their daily tasks filled the air, signalling the start of a new day.

Breathing became a struggle for her, and her skin felt uncomfortably itchy and dry. The longing to return to the water grew stronger with each passing moment. She knew that immersing herself in the water would grant her more time on land, a precious reprieve from her aquatic existence. The more she submerged herself in the cool depths, the longer she could remain on solid ground.

ith great effort, she managed to hoist herself out of the bed, her breath wheezing and coughing in protest. Every movement was accompanied by a dull ache, but she pressed on. Limping towards the door, she summoned every ounce of strength within her to deliver a resounding bang. It was a desperate plea for attention, a cry for help that echoed through the stillness of the morning.

The feeling began to get worse and Ryis thought she was going to die but an idea popped in her head. She walked over to a window and tried to wiggle in open, but to no avail, she was panicking.

She used her fist and punched trough the shutter. Her room didn't overlook the sea or the beach or even the city it was on-top of a huge staircase.

She used a long piece of fabric that hung from her bed and tied it to a bed post and chucked the rest out the window. She used her remaining strength to shimmy down the rope until she hit the floor.

She placed a hand on her chest and limped to the door to the beach. Where the princes where training.

She saw them not to far away but she didn't care if they saw her, all she cared about was staying alive.

The princelings and there trainer's saw Ryis bearly alive and dragging her body into the water.

As soon as Ryis was deep enough she ducked her head under the water and let the transition begin. She looked to the surface and saw the four princes and the two knights staring at her wide eyed.

She felt the pain rush trough her body, she heard her bones crack and the bubbles rising to the surface, she felt the gills cuting into her face, she forgot how painful it was. She felt the fin on her back claw it's way out causing her to scream. She felt her legs get forced together and turn into a tail.

After she was finished transitioning she swam away for the shallow water until the princes couldn't see her.,

She felt free she had sea foam in her veins she understood the language of the waves.
The ocean calmed her restless soul it made her feel like she belonged but she knew she could not stay for long otherwise others in her colony would find her.

"Gods.. where is the lady Ryis?" A member of the court asked.

The king and the princess rheanerya looked confused and concerned.

"Maybe she went to the ocean, she can only stay on land for a certain amount of time before her body starts to shut down" the sea snake spoke.

"Corlys... she was locked in her rooms last night.." the king spoke before the realisation hit him.

He stood from his chair and moved as fast as he could to Ryis's chambers. And ordered the guards to unlock it.

The door flung open to see and empty chamber a broker shutter and a line of fabric hanging from the window.

He took a sigh of relief before ordering the guards to send out three serve party's to find her.

"I want a search party on the beach, in the city, and around. The castle, don't stop until she is found" he ordered before storming back to the small council.
