"Bianca, honey, wake up" was the first thing Bianca heard after having fallen asleep during the last minutes of the film.
She felt completely at peace, cuddled by Emma. Wait, did she seriously fall asleep on the top of her? A thing was trying to be friends. A totally different one was falling asleep in her arms.
She immediately put a security distance between them. Oh, how could she be so stupid to let herself get this close to her when she was aware of what could happen. Her fear of flying had the best on her, but now she had to remedy and be as far as possible from her.
"Bianca, what's wrong?" Frowned Emma confused. For once, Bianca couldn't blame her. It was only her fault if she acted like that previously, not Emma's, so it was normal that she was bewildered by Bianca's new behaviour.
"Nothing, just... nothing." Bianca dismissed the question with a gesture of her hand.
They had landed a few minutes ago, so it was a matter of time before they could finally go down of the plane and head straight to the hotel. She would go there alone to avoid paparazzi. Thus, she just needed to escape from this situation and then run away.
"Bianca" warned her Emma. She used the typical tone she had right before an argument. "What did I do now? We were fine until I woke you up. "
Bianca obviously couldn't tell her the truth, Emma would be sorry again for having hurt her this bad, and Bianca didn't want that at all. She simply wished that existed a word in which things were different: where she wouldn't have to still collect pieces of herself and glue them together, where she got a better life after all the pain, where she got her happy ending she had always secretly dreamed of with the girl she loved the most. And now instead, she was forced to look into Emma's eyes and not get lost in them, to hear her laugh and not smile despite her having the most beautiful laughter she ever heard, to touch her soft hand and not wishing she could hold it forever. Because, even though she thought she didn't love Emma anymore, her heart skipped a beat every single time she heard her name; neither breaking their relationship up thousands years ago that would change that.
"Emma, please, let it go." Prayed Bianca with a cracking voice. Only now, having spent more time alone with the actress, she understood how bad she had missed her, and that wasn't a good sign at all.
"Honey" whispered Emma, caressing the girl's cheek with her thumb.
"I'm sorry." Said Bianca return placing her hand on the top of Emma's. "But I can't do it, not yet."
It didn't take long for Emma to understand what Bianca meant, but it was enough for the younger girl to leave without being blocked.
Bianca had lost the count of how many times, since Emma stepped into her clinic, she ran away from her. She knew that sooner or later, she would have to face reality, but she would try to postpone that moment as much as possible. A coward, that's what she was. That's what she used to call Emma when she left her without even saying goodbye, and now she felt like she was doing the same thing if not worse, since Emma was really putting all of herself into trying to regain her trust and friendship.
She felt as if she was suffocating while she walked towards the exit of the airport. Involuntarily, she bumped into a person staggering backwards. Her head was hurting since she had hit the shoulder of this person, who was taller than her, obviously.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry! I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going." Said a woman. "Did I hurt you?" She asked and Bianca weirdly found that voice familiar, she had heard it before but she didn't remember when, at least until she deleted her hand from her forehead and looked at her: it was Jennifer Lawrence.
