Just as Gage mentioned, the issue subsided as if nothing had happened. However, Gage didn't permit me to use my phone for three days. He was also occupied with frequent calls during that period. I understand, as he and his management are working to resolve the issue.

On the fourth day, lumabas na ako sa penthouse ni Gage. Pumunta ako sa isang coffee shop sa baba lang ng tower kung nasaan ang penthouse ni Gage and I didn't know that I would be bumped into by Lincoln.

"Lei! How are you?" Lincoln waved at me. He approached my table, which was in front of the transparent glass wall. "Can I sit here?"

Tukoy ni Lincoln sa isang bakanteng upuan sa tapat ko. Tumango naman ako.

Binaba niya ang kanyang kape.

"Ayos lang ako, Lincoln." sagot ko sa tamong niya. "Ikaw kumusta ka na? Si Kenneth kasama mo pa rin?"

"I am well and about Kenneth, kinuha muna siya saglit ng dad niya sa akin."

"Pero sa'yo pa rin maiiwan?"

Tumango siya. "Yes. Ikaw, nasaan na ang mga batang kasama mo? Sina Raelyn at Braze?"

"Ay kinuha na rin ng mga magulang nila. Pinabantayan lang kasi saglit iyon sa amin."

Nailang ako sa intensidad ng mga titig ni Lincoln sa akin kaya naman iniwas ko na ang mga mata ko rito at bumaling sa ibang direksyon.

Sumipsip ako sa aking kape bago tumingin sa labas.

Tahimik sa loob ng coffee at may ilang mga estudyante na nag-aaral ang iba naman ay nandirito for leisure.

Once I stared back at Lincoln, I still caught him intently looking at me.

"What are you looking at?"

I didn't know where I got the courage to ask him, but I already said it.

"Did your fiancé tell you that you are so pretty, Lei?" Lincoln blatantly remarked; he didn't even try to consider his words.

"Lincoln,"

"I like you, Lei," came his confession that I didn't even see coming.

"Lincoln,"

He shrugged his broad shoulders and leaned on his chair. He folded his arms, veins on his arms proudly protruded as a result of his action.

"You didn't have to say something just because I said I like you. I know where I stand in your life, Lei. You already have a fiancé, and I respect that," he said. "I just want to tell you my feelings because sooner or later, I'll be leaving the country, and I don't want to hold onto this feeling of mine."

"S-sorry," tanging usal ko sa sinabi niya.

"Hey, don't be sorry. What I feel may just be a little crush?" He laughed.

"Be happy with your soon-to-be husband, Lei."

I can't bring myself to answer him. What Lincoln said doesn't need an answer or a reply, yet I find myself looking for the right words to say, at least.

My heart was racing inside my chest like crazy, and I don't know if it's due to my fear, nervousness, or maybe both.

"I'm also wishing you all the best when you play soccer again." saad ko na lang.

"Thank you, Lei."

"Salamat din sa pagkakaibigan, Lincoln."

Tumawa si Lincoln kaya ngumiti rin ako sa kanya.
