I looked away out of embarrassment.
Aultcray: *loud voice* Our future champions. The time has come to begin your journey
The adventures began marching towards all of us, which was surprising.
Naofumi: *shocked* (What!? They're the ones who get to choose!?)
I closed my eyes, hoping that some of the adventurers would pick me.
When I opened my eyes, Itsuki got 3 members, Ren got 4 members, and Motoyasu got three, leaving me and Ryuji with zero members.
Ryuji: What's going on?
Aultcray: I lothe to admit it, but even I wasn't expecting this

A person approached the king and whispered something to him.
Aultcray: I have been aware of an unsettling rumor
Motoyasu: Has something happened, sir?
Aultcray: Not exactly. The rumor that's been spreading around town is that the shield hero is ignorant of the ways of this world
Naofumi: *shocked* WHAT!?
Aultcray: Legend tells us that when the heroes come to this world, they also have a firm understanding of this world, and the townspeople feel that he doesn't meet that criteria
