(12) Capture The Flag P3 - The Legend

We were on the other side of the creek and King Xavier was going to try a bike trick using the Ten Speeds ramps.

"Ha, ha, ha! Don't look so down. It's not every day you get to see your king do a cool bike trick." He speeds down and falls, rolling. Good thing he has on a helmet. I cringe with pain watching. Maya runs up to him.

"King Xavier! Are you okay?" The king snaps. He's been doing that a lot lately.

"Are you laughing at me? You think this is funny?!" He yells with tears in his eyes. He throws the helmet.

"Not at all. We'd be happy to help you learn that trick." One of the ten speeds speaks up.

"You? Help me? Impossible! If anything, I bet y'all sabotaged me. Yeah, that's it. This isn't a regulation ramp." Me and Jackie both give each other a confused look. "Oh-ho, you're lucky I'm not suing. Squashinator!" Aggie runs up to him, standing behind the Ten Speeds. "Yeah, boss?"

"Take care of that ramp."

"Okay! First, let's gather up some wood and sand bags. We can line 'em up at the bottom of the ramp to make the base a little more stable and -"

"Noooo! I mean destroy it!"

The Ten Speeds start yelling at the king about how the ramp's been there for a long time but the king doesn't care. "I'm just doing this for your own good. S'not like anyone cares about a bunch of dumb ramps, right?"

"Actually, we care a lot."

"Yeah, I didn't think so." Xavier ignores the kid. "Squashinator! Start squashing!"

Aggie jumps and hits the ground as hard as she can. The ramp disintegrates. The Ten Speeds start cry and one falls to their knees in horror.

"Ha, ha, ha! This place is looking safer already. Let's get rid of all of these ramps. Maya, give her a hand." He gets on his platform for the acorn knights to carry him. "Oh yea, almost forgot. Thanks for letting me use your bike. Here's some candy. Now we're even." He throws candy at them like that's going to fix anything. "You! Let's go!" Xavier had recruited some forest scout and now he follows us everywhere we go. He's not that bad but I can tell he doesn't want to hurt these kids.

Xavier leaves on his chariot and the rest of the champions follow behind him. I feel kind of bad for the Ten Speeds. Jackie grabs my hand and squeezes it. I turn to look at him and he signs to me, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just feel bad for them." I sign back. "Don't feel bad. Alright, beautiful?" I feel my face warm up as I nod. Jackie has been doing things to make me blush every chance he gets and every single time I can feel my heart in my throat as I want to blurt every single thing I have felt towards him since the day we met.

"Can you two stop flirting?" Keun Sup signs. Jackie nods his head no and winks at me with a grin. I can see Keun Sup gag out of the corner of my eye. 

"Okay! Flattened Ramp City. Already mowed the meadow. I swear, these kids don't know how to play." Xavier says as he scrolls through his phone. "Acorn Knight! Where are we headed next?"

"Uh, well, most of the sewer kids have abandoned the sewers, but the sewer queen has yet to step down from her throne."

Xavier sighs, "I can't say I truly care about what goes on in those disgusting sewers. But there can be only one royal in the cree- ah!" We came to a stop. Me and Jackie look around the platform to see why.

"Hey! Why'd you stop?!" The King yells. "Huh?" There's a small girl in a cloak in the middle of the road.

"Cuh...Candy?" She holds out her hand.

"What? Are you serious. How much candy do you Other Siders need?! Look, kid, I don't just give candy to anyone that asks for it."

"Oh, I know. That's why we're taking your candy." I hear a rustling in the bushes and spot a glimpse of orange. I point it out to Jackie.

"We?"

"You should have shared when you had the chance."

"Now we hope you're ready to dance." Two guys come out of the shadows.

"Get ready chumps. Hold on to your diapers." 

"Cause we're the unstoppable Sugar Swipers!" They all speak at once.

"What's happening?" I sign to Jackie. He shrugs.

"Wait, wha-what?"

"Now!" The girl yells.

"Sugar Swiper smoke bomb!" The boys throw something. Smoke starts spraying everywhere. I try to run after the orange I saw earlier but by the time I get there I can't see anything.

"Mayaaa!" The king yells.

"Sugar swiping sick!" I hear one of them say. I dig around in the bushes blindly but can't feel anything. I hear more rustling as it moves away from me.

"Chirp chirp? That's my cue." I hear from behind me. The person takes off running. I go back to Jackie and see Maya talking to what looks like Kelsey before more smoke bombs get thrown. It clears up and the Sugar Swipers are nowhere in sight.

"My candy is gone! Where were you, Maya?" The king says with gritted teeth.

"I was destroying the ramps like you sai-"

"Hababababababab! I don't want to hear your excuses! Don't let me down again." I feel bad for her as Xavier yells at her. I've never seen him yell at Maya. He's yelled at the rest of us plenty of times but never her.

We got a break from patrol with the king so me and Jackie found a spot beside the creek to hang out for a while. We talk about everything that's happen and I can't help but feel bad again. Jackie puts his hand on my bad and looks me in my eyes. "Don't feel bad Y/N. It really isn't your fault." He signs.

"I don't want to hurt all these kids." He gives me an apologetic look and pulls me into his chest in a hug. He always know how to help when I'm upset. I take a deep breath and inhale his scent. We pull away.

"Jackie there is something I've really wanted to talk to you about." He gives me a confused look.

"Jackie-" I start to sign. Suddenly Keun Sup runs up to us.

"There you two are! The king needs us for something." He says as he translates for Jackie.

"Tell me later, ok?" Jackie signs. I nod and we head back to the king.

I hate slow burns but idk how to speed this up more lol.
