Neriah's POV

I walked into the class as I left Norah out, of whom I could still imagine her laugh and squeaking!!! I shook my head as I blushed and sat on my seat to see if I could concentrate and well, I just couldn't. Soon after, she walked in and she was "normal" again all thanks to God or whatever calmed her.
"Marcus called." she said as she settled in.
" Yeah, so?" I asked.
"So, nothing, I would probably meet him at his place after school today."
" Is he okay?"
"According to him, he's sick."
"According to him? you don't think so?"
"He isn't, he just wants me to come over."
"Really?"
"I'm Certain." she replied as she took out her note pad.
I was already calm within myself and since it was some sort of free period for all due to sport, I decided to take out little time to read a little as I waited for my coach to send a text or probably call. About 20minutes in, my phone beeped.
"So Norah, that would be all for now, I've got practice."
" Okay."
"Want to walk with me?" I asked.
"Okay baby, we could walk together, I need to be on the field." she had a mischievous look on.
"You are absolutely serious about these football guys?" I scoffed while shaking my head.
"Well..." she laughed as he helped me pack my stuff as hers were already packed. We walked to our various lockers and placed our items in there and hurried to the field, at least I was in a hurry and she was... just there.
As spectacular as it sounded, we saw, Marcus. Actually I knew he was coming, he texted me 5 minutes before my coach did and asked i brought Norah to the field. He had an apology card and came with some other things I didn't pay attention to.
"Well, I got her here for you, you guys enjoy."
"You knew?" she said rather calmly yet extremely baffled.
I kissed her forehead and walked away smiling. I had to go back to the locker room to get dressed except I was ready to get scolded by the almighty Coach himself.  The coach had given us extra 20 minutes to get to the field so I still had little time. I strolled to the locker room a little hastily but relaxed. It happens in a flashed and soon a calm looking guy bumbed into me. GREAT. He had an amazing smile on and one could tell, he either met with his crush or girlfriend but it was definitely a girl that had him like that.

“I am so sorry, I didn’t see you there” I apologized immediately
“It is fine, actually." I couldn't help but smile. "Don’t  let me ruin that amazing smile of yours. Whoever has you smiling like that is either lucky or maybe you are the lucky one” I told him.
“Let’s hope that you are right." he said. So crush it is, I assumed. "I  don’t think I have seen you around before. My name is Caleb, I am in year eleven” he said, extending his hand for a shake.
“Caleb, that souds familiar. I am Neriah. The reason you have probably not seen me around is because I am in year ten, well, at least until next session. Who has you smiling like that?” i inquired. Jeezz Neriah,Don't be nosy! I said to myself but it was already too late.
“I don’t think that is important right now. I would like to scream on top of my voice and tell the world that a girl has me smiling but I really have to get to the coach’s office” He said.
“Football?” I asked, since they have a tournament and Clinton left for a meeting too.
“More like basketball” he said and I could only nod. I didn't want to say I was also into basketball as I was supposed to be in a hurry as he was and  I would just let us meet there.
“Well, good luck with that” I smiled at him, he smiled back and left.
I hurried to the changing room and got dressed immediately. I had less than 6 minutes to be there so I had to run. I used the opportunity as my jogging session but this time with a little Sprint.  I had my personal ball so I had it along with me. The journey seemed longer because I was running out of time and I wasn't really in for any form of nagging.
"Just in time Neriah." coach smirked at me as I rushed in. "Yes!" I mouthed as I beat the time. I smiled at him, victory smile, was he expecting me to be late?
"I'll be in my office a while, train, jog, I'll be out soon." he said and left.  I drop my sport bag and strengthened my legs a bit.

He was out soon and with Caleb and some other person's.
"You."
"Yeah." I smiled.
"You didn't mention anything about being on this team and how come I haven't seen you before?"
"First thing is, I was going to see you here either ways so no need telling I was on the basketball team, second, I've seen you before although we train separately. I got to train alone with the coach,so I got to see people more than they saw me." I said
" Wow, that's nice." he only nodded and continued, " Carry on, I might train later today coach sent me on an errand."
"Cool, see you around." I said as we both parties ways, again.

Soon training was over and I was extremely tired. I downed a lot of water and laid on the pitch.
"Neriah." I got up immediately! My coaches voice was one voice I was never too tired to answer.
"Yes coach!"
"I see you have improved so well and I'm indeed marvelled."
"Thank you."
"I would you still like the private coaching or you are now fully ready to train with the others, fully."
" Don't mean to sound weird but, how about I do both?"
" Fine. I was expecting that too anyway." he smiled at me.
" Thank you sir."
"Run along now, you shouldn't be laying here, it's not your bedroom." he went back to being strict.
" Sure." I replied as I left with my belongings.

I drove home calmly and walked In.
I didn't see my brother or dad around but I knew they were in the house. I wasn't going to disturb or greet them till I had my bathe and relaxed a bit.
However, I couldn't help but pause at whatever discussion they were having and with mom!!
"You should just leave her be, Dave! She is happy and you have seen that too."
"She is pretending to be happy and one day she's going to find out what happened to her when she was 3 and you all will be sorry." Dave snarled.
"Find out from whom?" mom asked.
"Probably Emerald." Dave responded.
"They don't talk anymore and it should be like that!"
"And you know how inquisitive Neriah can get!"
" When we get there, we would cross that bridge, for now she should know nothing." Mom concluded and I staggered back to my room quietly.
