Weeks had gone by, Lydia walked through the Institute beside Magnus, Izzy and Alec.

"Any word from the Clave?" Izzy asked

"Not yet, and we've been trying for the past four hours. Something's up." Lydia said
"Mmm, the Clave being unhelpful? Who's shocked? Show of hands?" Magnus said

No one said anything, they arrived at the conference table, Alec and Izzy leaning against the table, as Magnus placed the jacket over his arm.
"I'm worried. I can't sense Jace through our parabatai bond." Alec said
"We'll find him, Alexander, plus Flower can still sense him." Magnus said

"So he's somewhere in the world." Lydia said
"When we arrested Hodge, he said Valentine was on a ship. They must still be over water." Izzy said

"Pull up the waterways around New York." Lydia said
Izzy pulled up a holographic model of the waterways, Lydia and Izzy's eyes searching.
"The ship couldn't have gotten too far." Izzy said
Alec turned to spot Magnus, he was using his tracking on the jacket.

"Anything?" Alec asked
"Sorry." Magnus said

"There's got to be something there!" Alec yelled

"I don't see him." Magnus said

"All right, listen up! I want 24/7 monitoring of the Hudson and East Rivers. If you see anything unusual, you come to me first." Alec announced

"I've got this, Alec." Lydia said
"Then why haven't you found Jace yet?" Alec asked yelling at her

"Don't forget who you're talking to. I am still the head of this institute." Lydia said
"And my brother is still missing." Alec argued

"Why don't you just take a break?" Izzy asked

"Not now, Izzy." Alec hissed

"Isabelle's right, and it's not a request. You're dismissed." Lydia said

Magnus watched over the group, seeing the anger rise in the tall Shadowhunter's eyes. Alec stared at Lydia, huffing his chest out.
"Fine!" He yelled walking off

Magnus walked over, calling for him, he grabbed his arm. Alec ripped it away staring at the group.

"Everybody, just back off!" Alec yelled walking off

Up above the world on the roof of the Institute, Magnolia sat cross legged, focusing her energy on the article of clothing sitting between her hands. The brunette held a leather jacket tightly, her green energy emitting from her palms as she hummed to calm her down. Almost everyday since Jace went with Valentine, she was either in Alec's room, the roof or at the apartment, trying to find Jace, trying to sense him, trying to trace him. The woman grew frustrated with herself, as she dropped her hands. She sat there staring at the wall, tears pricking in her eyes.

"Where are you?" She whispered

Moments later, the door flew open, Alec walked out taking deep breaths as he paced back and forth before leaning his hands against the railing. The two stayed silent as she rose from the ground, walking toward him.

"I lost it down there." Alec said

She stood beside him looking out.
"I get it. I know what you're going through." Magnolia said

"No, I-I don't think you do. Jace is a part of me, through a rune, we are both physically and emotionally connected. If he dies, a part of me dies too. I know he's out there and he's in trouble and there is not a damn thing I can do about it." Alec explained

She stood there, her face looking at him, her eyes glazed over. He turned to walk off again, when she turned toward him.

"Tell me what I can do." She croaked
Alec stared her and squinted his eyes, his eyes moved back and forth almost looking for the answer around him.

"Help me track Jace, I want to use our rune, I just need your magic for the pain." Alec said

Magnolia stared at him, tears now in her eyes, her graze lands to the floor as she sighs deeply pushing the hair back away from her face.

"I can't help you with this." She said softly

"Why not?" Alec asked

"Because the last time you used a rune to track Jace, it almost killed you and I can't lose you too." Magnolia said
"Why can't you just do this one thing? After everything I've done for you." Alec yelled

Magnolia stared at him, the pain painted across her face, she watched as he walked off. Her eyes fell to the floor as she felt a tear fall from her eye, she wiped it swiftly as she walked over to Jace's jacket, leaving the roof.

Magnolia walked over leaning against the wall as they called a meeting in the ops center, Clary and her mother walked in first standing beside Izzy as Simon and Luke stood back by her, she gave a smile. Maryse stood up on the platform, her shoulders back, confidently.

"We are at war. Valentine now has the Mortal Cup, with which he is, no doubt, raising a new army, and one of our own has joined him." Maryse said

Magnolia rolled her eyes, her eyes to the floor.

"As a result, the Clave has declared a state of emergency at the Institute. Their first priority is to replace the current leadership, who they have deemed wholly ineffectual. It is an honor to introduce the newly appointed head of the New York Institute, Clave representative, Victor Aldertree." Maryse said

She nodded in his direction as she walked down the stairs standing with the rest. Magnolia's eyes grew wide as looked at Lydia and Alec, who stood there tall.
"My fellow ShadowHunters, it's an honor to be here with you all. We have to find Jace Wayland, he's a Shadowhunter, and we don't leave our people behind. The answer to his location may very well lie in this room. So I want to speak with everyone who went on a mission where Jace disappeared." He said about to walk off

He turned facing the crowd once more.

"One last thing. Effective immediately, the Institute is on lockdown, but it's only temporary. Let's turn this institute around." He said walking off

Magnolia huffed as she walked off away from the crowd, Simon went to grab her as Luke stopped him.

"Leave her be, she's going through it." Luke said
