"Jasper." I shout, banging hard on his front door.
"Give me a freaking second woman." I hear him say from inside.
"You're taking forever." Kamari shouts back. "If I didn't know you, I'd think you had company."
Jasper opens the door and I notice him buttoning up his last button on his shirt.
Maybe he does have company.
Kamari's eyebrows raise. "Do you have company?" She asks, reading my mind.
Jasper looks between the two of us suspiciously.
I'm guessing that's a yes then.
I see movement behind Jasper and my eyes snap to it.
I gasp and my hand covers my mouth. Kamari blinks in shock.
Jasper turns to look at Vinnie, his police officer crush, before returning his attention to us. "Yeah, so I'm going to be a bit late." He says quickly before shutting the door.
The two of us just stand there in shock of the new development.
What just happened.
"Is that-" Kamari begins to ask.
"Vinnie." I confirm. "The police guy Jasper likes."
"This is going to end badly." She states.
"Well that's Jasper for you."
The two of us walk into Kamari's house next door.
"I mean I didn't take the whole mafia thing well, who knows what the fuck this guy will do. He's a police officer." Kamari states. "Wait, my boyfriend is in a mafia, your boyfriend is, what are the odds Jaspers is too?"
I shake my head. "He's not in a mafia." I state. "Well not Anatoly's anyway." I add because there's no way to be fully sure of every one. Vinnie doesn't really seem like the type, though many are hidden in plain sight."
"Yeah, I didn't know about any of you. I mean I wasn't suprised with Jasper but still."
"So you and Theo?" I press.
"We're going good after the whole you're in a mafia bump in the road. I mean I still find it strange because damn who wouldn't? But I also don't think it makes me feel any different about him. Maybe it would if all of my friends I've known for years weren't in the same boat but I know you guys aren't bad people." She states. "I would've brought him on vacation with us but Anatoly needs him here and he's looking after the restaurant for me."
"Jasper better hurry his a up or we're going to be late to our flight." I state.
"At least we're not going to miss our flight considering Anatoly owns the plane. Which is a cool wife of a mafia leader perk."
