Walking into work two days later was an odd feeling. I called out yesterday because I overindulged in wine the night before. At some point that night, I decided that I had to go over the contract while level-headed, so I took one of the days that was offered. As soon as I got to the building, I felt weird.

I've decided to accept this offer and see how things progress organically. It's been a while since I've dated anyone seriously, so it's not like I'm running any chances here. I've learned, since I started working here, that you can lose count of the ways people can try to use you for leverage, for association, for business, for vengeance. It helped me learn to read people better and to be very careful with whom I let into my tiny inner circle. Now, I won't be telling them either about this ... arrangement. It's best that way.

First, I took Drew his coffee as I normally do and placed the signed contract in his top drawer. Then, I sat at my desk, preparing to go through all of the emails I missed yesterday. My assistant walked into my office just 10 minutes after I arrived, not surprised at all to see me so early.

"My goal is to one day be here before you." Liv said.

"Never, this is my quiet before the storm and madness." I replied, making her laugh.

"Well, I responded to all emails I was copied on to the best of my ability, but I know you'll go through them again. All the mail has been sorted by degree of importance, anything I could respond to by fax, I did. All faxes have been cataloged and organized by degree of importance. Messages were taken, the most important on up, anything that needs replying to ASAP is in red. New contracts have been sent to you, and I added them all in one email in order of receipt. Let's see, what else? Mr. McIntyre was miserable yesterday, and everyone could tell this place would literally fall down around us workout you." She said, making me laugh.

"The man would drown in a sea of emails and messages."

"Oh! Three meetings were canceled, but they refused to reschedule with me." She added.

"Yes, those three are very particular. Thank you, Liv, I've got my work cut out today." I sighed happily.

These days make me the happiest. The busy, the crazy, the catch-up, I love my job. It took me three hours to get through everything from yesterday and another hour to reschedule the missed meetings. I know Drew arrived at some point when I was out of my office, but I didn't see him for at least three hours. The phone ringing brought me out of an angry response to an email that I really didn't need to send.

"Ocasio ..." I responded.

"Frankie, I need you to come to the meeting room." Drew growled.

"Be there in five."

That means the meeting is not going as planned, and he wants me to save face for him because he's ready to start throwing punches. As entertaining as that can be, it's not helpful right now. Looking into my files for today's meetings, I found the information I needed and took off for the meeting room. No more than two steps in, and I could feel the tension in the room.

"Seamus ..." I smiled at Drew's Irish acquaintance.

The extremely pale man with bright orange hair stopped glaring at Drew to send what he thinks is an alluring smile my way. He does it every time we see each other. At this point, I do honestly think he just riles Drew up so I'll be called in to soothe both male tempers.

"You look gorgeous, as always, Francheska." Seamus says, taking my hand and kissing my knuckles.

"Thank you, what seems to be the problem?" I asked, moving quickly to sit by Drew.

Under the table, he put his hand on my thigh, which is something he's done plenty of times before. However, this time, it made butterflies erupt in my stomach. Get a grip. I meant that to myself, but as Seamus kept talking in his arrogant tone, Drew squeezed my thigh, and I had to fight the urge to rub my legs together. Stay professional.
