A few days later, Bondita was sitting in a corner of a classroom, trying to study, but she couldn't focus on anything. Her mind kept wandering back to the conversation she had with Anirudh.

She still couldn't believe that he was in love with someone, and more than that...he loved someone she knew The thought of her having to face the girl he loved made her heartache.

As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt a presence right beside her. She looked up and was surprised to see Anirudh standing in front of her.

She had tried to avoid him for the past few days but he had found her. She had assumed she wouldn't be able to see him again, at least not alone, and the thought of interacting with him alone sent a shiver down her spine.

"Hi Ani? You here?" She asked trying to sound normal.

"Yeah," he replied in an equally normal voice, looking as though he hadn't skipped a beat.

Then he sat down next to her, their bodies were close enough that their elbows kept bumping into each other. Her heart rate immediately started racing at the physical proximity, she tried her best to ignore it.

"And by any chance, Are you ignoring me, miss Bondita Sharma?" He asked playfully

"No I'm not." she tried to play it off cool, failing miserably at it.

Even though she was trying to be normal, her voice lacked conviction; but she prayed with all her heart that he wouldn't pick up on it.

But to her dismay, it seemed he did.

He tilted his head and remarked, "Why are you avoiding me?"

He was definitely not going to let her off the hook, she needed a good excuse, but she couldn't come up with anything. His stare was making her sweat.

"Something wrong?" he asked, which made Bondita realize he noticed everything. She really did suck at hiding things.

He studied her for a moment before finally replying "Really? Busy with what?"

This was his subtle way of letting her know he wasn't buying any of it. Her body immediately became tense.

"I was just, you know, studying, and stuff," she replied nervously, realizing her words weren't very convincing.

It was so obvious that she was lying, but he didn't say anything, letting her squirm. When she finally looked up at him, he was looking right at her with a smirk on his face.

"I mean-" she began, starting her explanation again, but this time he cut her off.

"You know, when I started to know you, I quickly learned that you're a bad liar," he smirked, causing her cheeks to heat up.

"I-i---" A group of girls walked by them, giggling. She glanced at them as they passed; it was very typical of girls like that to start giggling as soon as they saw her next to Anirudh.

As soon as they passed, Bondita started to resume speaking, but Anirudh interrupted her again by saying "They think we're dating."

Hearing those words made her heart skip a beat, it was as though he could read her mind. She looked up at him and found his eyes on her again, his smirk made her cheeks redden once more. She couldn't help but blush, but she refused to admit this.

"A-Anirudh I have to go and R-remember you love someone" Saying that She got up from the desk in the blink of an eye and started walking away. She didn't look back at him even once despite him calling out to her. She felt as though her world was falling apart. Her best friend wasn't single anymore, and it felt like everything was hopeless.

She was so caught up in her own thoughts that she didn't even pay attention to where she was going. She kept walking until she reached the door which led outside.

"Bondu, Did you ask Anirudh to accompany you on your farewell?" Her mother asked as she entered her house.

"Maa, I-i he already has a partner," She said and ran off to her room leaving her mother confused.

They have their farewell after a week and she planned to ask Anirudh out but it seems like fate was not on her side.
