We dash into the chambers. Almost immediately, as we step inside, I begin feeling dizzy as the piercing heat flushes my skin. I look down at the awaiting elf, who's still showing no sign of discomfort. Me, however, has already started feeling the small of my back dampening with sweat. Ugh, this is so embarrassing.

''What's your name?'' Is the first thing I find myself asking.

I'm so damn stupid! Why the Hell would I ask for–

''Λέγε με Γκίντανος. Είμαι ένας ολμασίμος, παρεμπιπτόντως, όχι ξωτικό.'' Call me Gintanos. I'm an olmasimy, by the way, not an elf.

He speaks Greek, I realize.

Wait. How the Hell did I understand every word he's uttered? Last I checked, I don't know what Greece even is! God, I must be going crazy.

Gintanos's voice is like iron screeching over glass, piercing my ears.

''Why are you here?'' I ask with a shy voice, ignoring how his voice delicately raises goosebumps on my skin.

''Εσύ, γλυκιά μου, κρατήθηκες από ένα μυστικό για πάρα πολύ καιρό.'' You, sweet thing, have been kept from your secret for far too long.

What is that even supposed to mean? How come he speaks of a secret that's supposed to be my secret, yet I know nothing of what he's talking about?

His oval eyes suddenly turn from mused to dead serious within a millisecond.

I speak first before he has the chance to spew more nonsense. ''Look here, elf. . .olmasimy—whatever.'' I roll my eyes at my carness. Like hell I should call him by his specific species name. He looks like an elf, not my problem. ''I have no idea what an elf like you is doing in the middle of my house, okay? Even less know how an elf actually exists. So how about you make a u-turn back to your planet, and leave a sorry girl like me alone, yeah? How does that sound?''

''Αυτό ακούγεται σαν δειλία, γλυκό πράγμα.'' This sounds like cowardice, sweet thing.

Oh, so now a lowly creature is going to stomp on my pride, too? Goddesses, the universe has such a rotten sense of humor.

''How dare you–''

That thing dares to interrupt me, too!

''Τίποτα από αυτή την ανοησία, γλυκό πράγμα. Εσύ, αγαπητέ μου, είσαι άσπρη καρδιά. ένα ον από καθαρό φως και μαγεία. Αν και είμαι σίγουρος ότι δεν το ήξερες.'' Nothing of that nonsense, sweet thing. You, my dear, are a white-heart; a being of pure light and magic.Though I'm sure you didn't know that.

''A white-heart?'' I scoff. ''Yeah, sure. If I was to be any magical creature, the last thing I'll be is a being of pure whatever. I'll be a witch, I know it.''

Gintanos has the audacity to roll his eyes.

''Οι μάγισσες δεν υπάρχουν.''Witches don't exist.

''A second ago I thought elves didn't exist, too.''

The elf growls. ''Ολμασίμι, όχι ξωτικό.'' Olmasimy, not elf.

''Nobody cares.''

He steps closer. I step back. A bubble of fear finally bursts in my chest. Finally, Chaeyoung, have you come to your senses and decided to consider the reality of this situation? You are having a conversation with a damn elf, for God's sake!
