Yoongi couldn't sit still after learning the news; his restless energy was visible as he paced the room, his fingers raking through his hair in dissatisfaction.
"Please, you can't say anything." Hoseok pleaded with his eyes fixated on Yoongi.
Yoongi looked at Hoseok and said, "Your brother has been lying to my best friend, and you want me to keep it a secret?"
"Please, you must understand that Seokjin is not doing it on purpose," Hoseok replied after a short pause, his face expressing the fear that filled him as he added, "It's a complicated situation."
"What's so fucking complicated about your older brother having you pretend his son is yours while he is off married to my best friend and living a new life?" Yoongi upped his voice, making Hoseok jump.
Hoseok took a step back and exhaled deeply. "First of all, I am Seokjin's older brother. What made you think he was older than me? Second, legally, Hyunjae is my son. I have complete guardianship over him." He walked closer to Yoongi, not wanting to exacerbate the already awful situation for everyone involved. "I will tell you everything you want to know, but only if you promise me you won't reveal any of it to Jungkook."
Yoongi felt conflicted as he looked at Hoseok. He had been deeply dedicated to Hoseok after repeatedly traveling to South Korea in recent months. He also had a soft spot for Hyunjae. However, the new finding took him off guard, leaving him uncertain and confused. Jungkook was his closest friend, someone he knew would always be there for him. He also understood how seriously Jungkook regarded betrayals, making things much more difficult.
Ultimately, no matter how much he loved Hoseok or Hyunjae, he couldn't bring himself to betray Jungkook; the cost would be too high.
"I can't promise you that. This is something Jungkook should know about." Yoongi said as he grabbed his phone from his pocket to contact Jungkook.
Hoseok rushed forward and grabbed the phone from Yoongi's hands. As Yoongi looked shocked, Hoseok attempted to explain tremblingly, "Listen to me for just five minutes, please. That is all I am asking—"
"Give me my phone back; nothing you can say will change my mind. Your brother is—"
"I am pregnant."
"W-what? How?... Wait, don't answer that." Yoongi quickly began pacing the room again, "fuck, fuck, fuckkkk!" He shouted. "I am fucked!"
Hoseok, who had been worried, was shocked by Yoongi's response to the news. He understood they weren't official and things had developed spontaneously as they spent time together, but he did not expect this response.
"I am sorry," Yoongi murmured as he turned to face Hoseok. "This is not about your pregnancy. I-I can't betray Jungkook. I care about you and want to be here for you. I am thrilled to learn you are pregnant, so please don't get the wrong idea." Yoongi's response went silent as he attempted to make sense of his thoughts; it had all been too much for him in a moment.
He approached Hoseok, staring carefully at him and asking, "I don't know why your brother is hiding this secret or why you have custody of his son, and I probably won't understand, but in the same way, you are protecting him by keeping his secret, I must do the same for Jungkook. He knew there was something wrong, which is why he urged me to come here. I cannot betray him. He rarely trusts anyone, but he trusts me; I must maintain my loyalty to him, and I am sorry."
