"They fell asleep about thirty minutes ago," Chanmi said as she provided Jin with an update on Willow and Sage. "I gave them their baths, and they ate before falling asleep, so I doubt they will wake back up for now."
Jin's eyes briefly met hers, and a small smile played at the corners of his lips before he directed his gaze back to the pantry's contents. He was trying to gather the necessary ingredients for baking a cake. He was determined to satisfy his unusual craving for a specific sweet treat and knew delivery might not be an option. Therefore, he searched for the ingredients on his phone to determine if the oversized pantry was worth the space it took up.
Chanmi leaned against the counter, observing Jin before asking, "How was your day? You seem extra quiet. Did something happen?"
"It was okay. I somehow ended up having an early dinner with Jimin."
"Wow, really? How did that happen?"
"The man upstairs initiated it."
Chanmi was eager to hear all about it. "Oh, I should have known. But how did it go? Was it awkward?" she asked, knowing Jin's tendencies.
Jin shifted his focus towards her and said, "It was awkward at first, but after we talked, it felt less uncomfortable. He's not as annoying as he acts. Overall, it wasn't a waste of my time."
"That's great! I think Jimin is very friendly. Maybe you and him can do that more often. I know he has mentioned wanting to do it every time we see him at the mall."
Jin disregarded Chanmi's suggestion and, instead, expressed his thanks, "I just want to thank you for staying with the girls today. I understand it wasn't part of the plan, and I know you weren't hired to be their sitter. Your willingness to step in at the last minute means a lot."
"Chanmi smiled and said, "It's no problem. You know I am available to help whenever possible, no matter the situation. They were also pretty relaxed today, although Willow did try to pull my hair out. She has a strong grip!" Her words caused Jin to laugh as he nodded his head in agreement. "She does."
"She is adorable, though; both of them are. I wish to have a child as lovely as them one day. If only I could meet a wealthy and handsome man." Chanmi sighed as she thought about her future.
Jin's expression shifted as he looked at her. "Be very careful about your wishes, and trust me, take all the time you need before starting a family, especially when you have the freedom and opportunity to choose.
Once you have children, your entire life changes. Your body experiences big changes; your energy is no longer yours to control, and days blur into nights while nights become days. This becomes even more challenging and demanding when you are on your own.
It's perfectly fine to hope for a handsome and wealthy partner, but make sure that's not all you seek. Make sure he also cherishes and respects you. I understand if this seems shocking coming from me, and my brother usually dismisses my advice, but you and he have something I never did, and I recommend both of you to use your freedom to make wise decisions while you are single and in good health."
"You are going to make me cry. Can I hug you?" Chanmi asked, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she sought comfort in Jin's words. Despite sensing the pain he was also feeling, she found solace in his advice. Chanmi was not accustomed to receiving advice from others, so she cherished these small moments when Jin opened up to her. His words may have been few, but they held significant meaning for her.
Jin nodded in affirmation, and without hesitation, Chanmi stepped forward and enveloped him in a tight, comforting hug.
Jungkook walked into the kitchen and was taken aback to see Jin and Chanmi locked in a tight hug. "What's happening here? Chanmi, don't you live somewhere?" he asked, puzzled by the scene.
