"Code blue, room 308. I repeat, code blue, room 308. We need immediate assistance. Who's nearby?"

"Papunta na 'ko." I responded immediately over the speaker in the station.

After hours of staying inside the operating room and skipping meal, enduring hunger and full bladder my body was in a complete fatigue, but I had no choice but to rush over. As part of the code blue team, this is our responsibility.

"Okay team, we have a code blue. Assemble at room 308.  Iz, take charge of the compressions. Diana, assist with the compression and monitor vital signs. Alea, grab the crash cart. Trish, grab the defibrillator. Let's move quickly!" Dr. De Vera, our team leader said. "I'll lead the resuscitation efforts."

"I've got the crash cart, heading now to room 308." Alea replied.

We all rushed to the patient and do our roles upon arriving. Nadatnan namin doon si Josh so it's a cardiac case. I coordinated with the nurses, reviewing the chart.

"What's the situation?" Dr. De Vera asked.

"Cardiac arrest. Patient is unresponsive, no pulse, and no breathing." Josh answered.

"Let's initiate CPR. Iz, start the compression now. Trish, set up the defibrillator." Dr. De Vera commanded.

"Starting compression. 1,2,3,4,5..." I started my job, giving quality compression over the patient's chest.

"Status?" Our team leader, asked.

"Patient still no pulse, negative breathing. CPR in progress for 2 minutes." I replied.

"Airway secured, and CPR ongoing." Said Diana.

"Trish, get the AED ready. We'll shock on my count." Dr. De Vera ordered.

"AED is charged and ready to go." Alea replied.

"Charge to 200 joules. Room 308, clear for defibrillation! 3-2-1 CLEAR!" Dr. De Vera said again. "Shock delivered. Diana, resume compressions."

"Starting compressions again."

"Attending physician is on the way."

I catched my breathe as Diana take over the compression. I'm quiet out of breath, maybe because of fatigue and hunger.

"Iz, you okay?" Lapit saakin ni Josh. "You're pale."

I didn't got the chance to reply to Josh as my eyes landed on the patient's vitals, "Blood pressure dropping rapidly!"

"Let's push epinephrine! Iz, administer 1mg IV push."

"Epinephrine administered." I stated.

"Continue compressions. We'll reassess rhythm in 2 minutes." The Doctor said. The compression continues. And after 2 minutes. "Patient status?"

"Negative pulse, no breathing." Saad ni Diana.

"Let's try another shock. Everyone clear! Shock delivered. Resume compressions. Iz, take over."

I immediately started compressing again. But, in the midst of compression my heart suddenly skipped a beat, followed by a tight pain in my chest. I started catching for my breathe.

C'mon. Give me pulse. Please breathe already.

"Compressions ongoing. No change in rhythm." I said.

"Okay, let's push another round of meds. Alea, administer amiodarone."

"Amiodarone given." Alea stated.
