Wren walked a little ahead of them to be able to see their surroundings. Thomas and Minho set Alby down and heard a Griever in the distance."This isn't gonna work. We gotta go." Minho stood up
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Thomas asked, "We gotta do something. We gotta hide him."
While the boys argued for a bit, Wren knelt down in front of Alby and checked the wound on his head. Her attention was drawn back to the boys when Minho pressed Thomas to the wall.
"Listen to me, Shuck-face, all right? Take a look around. There's nowhere to go!" Minho told Thomas then let go of him and stood back, "You don't get it. We're already dead."
"We need to do something." Wren stood up
Thomas looked around and saw one of the walls covered with vines. The next thing Wren knew, the three had Alby tied to a rope and were securing him onto the vine wall with a rope. Minho glanced away when hearing a noise.
"Minho, focus." Wren groaned and pulled on the rope to get Alby higher
That's when Minho saw a Griever and said, "We gotta go. We gotta go."
"No, no, no." Thomas shook his head, holding tighter on the rope. "Just a little more and we'll tie it off."
"No, no, no." Minho shook his head
The Griever seemed to be getting closer.
"Okay," Wren noticed the Griever, "I see the problem now."
"Just a little bit higher. Just a little more. We're almost there." Thomas reassured them, but he was- quite frankly- terrified too.
"I'm sorry, Greenie." Minho apologised, then ran off
"Minho!" Wren yelled as the rope lost part of the weight, and Thomas and Wren hit the vine wall, lowering Alby a bit. Her foot slipped and Wren found a small hole behind the vines that they could hide in. "Thomas, look." She shifted Thomas' foot so he could figure it out.
Thomas realised and the two pulled the rope tighter and hid in the small hole. The Griever ended up walking past them, it's metal legs scraping across the floor. Wren climbed out once the Griever left and Thomas tied the rope to a branch to secure it.
"The Griever's coming back." Wren tapped Thomas' shoulder when hearing the Griever come closer.
The two ran to the other side of the wall when the Griever appeared again. They hoped the Griever wouldn't go around that corner, and they were lucky when it left.
"We need to run." Wren tugged on Thomas' arm, whispering.
"Yeah, let's go." Thomas whispered back, and the two began to walk away, but slowly.
Thomas stopped when stepping in some sort of goo, and Wren felt like they were being watched. She looked around and saw a Griever above them. It jumped down and the two began to run.
Wren kept track of the turns to now sure they knew where they were going, but they soon reached a dead end.
"Shit." Thomas whispered, then he saw some vines
Thomas ran over to the vines and began to climb. So Wren followed him and climbed up, the Griever close behind. The two ran across the wall, it was lower than the rest of the walls, and jumped across onto a platform. But, of course, Wren's 'amazing' jumping skills kicked in and she landed funny, twisting her ankle. She groaned and grasped at her ankle.
"Come on, we have to keep moving." Thomas knelt down beside her
"Thomas, I can't run like this." She shook her head
Thomas looked over and saw the Griever climbing the wall, then in the opposite direction was a vine wall. He looked back at Wren, "Do you trust me?"
Wren looked up at him with confusion, then she saw the vine wall, "Greenie, no. You can't seriously think that-."
But before Wren knew it, Thomas had a hold of her and was jumping for the vine wall. Thomas grabbed onto a vine with one hand while holding Wren's arm with the other.
The Griever jumped onto the vine wall and tried to attack them, but Wren used her good leg to kick the Griever off the vine wall and to the floor, but the two fell with it. But the Griever got caught in the vines so Thomas grabbed Wren's arm, hoisted it over his shoulder, and continued to run.
Minho ran around the corner and bumped into them. "Crazy son of a bitch." Was all Minho said before they began to run.
The maze began to change around them so they had to speed up.
"This section's closing. Come on. We can lose it down here!" Minho said, taking Wren's hand and running down a corridor.
But Thomas stopped.
"Thomas! What are you waiting for? Get out of there!" Minho yelled
The Griever ran at Thomas and he ran through the corridor. That's when the Maze swished the Griever between the walls.
"You're crazy." Wren hugged Thomas
"That's better than being dead." Thomas sighed and hugged her back
"We need to get Alby and get back to the Glade." Minho said
Wren nodded, "I remember the way back to where we left Alby."
So the three began to walk- or Thomas and Minho did the walking while helping Wren. They arrived back to where they put Alby's body and untied the rope, bringing him back down to the hound.
"I feel like, if we weren't in the Maze, it would be weird to say what we did for Alby's protection." Wren let out a small chuckle, allowing herself to lean against the wall for support
"That's true." Minho smiled slightly, hoisting one of Alby's arms over his shoulder.
"Wren, are you able to walk on your own?" Thomas asked
She pushed herself off the wall and tried to walk. There was an extremely noticeable limp to her walk. So she said, "I think I can manage, as long as we don't run."
Thomas nodded and hoisted Alby's other arm onto his own shoulder.

They arrived back just after the doors opened. All the Gladers were standing by the door, waiting for their return. Some of the Gladers took Alby out of Minho and Thomas' hands to lay him on the floor as Wren leaned against the wall.
"What is wrong with you?" Newt hugged her
"If I'm honest, I wasn't thinking in the moment." Wren chuckled softly and hugged him back, pushing herself off the wall slightly and putting most of her pressure onto her good leg.
"Wren. You're not standing like you normally do." Newt realised and pulled away slightly
"I used my best skill.." Wren said in a more suggestive tone
"You jumped and landed funny." Newt sighed
"Yeah, I did." She nodded, disappointed in herself more than anything
"At least you're back." Newt hugged her again
"You're not mad?"
"Not anymore."
"You saw a Griever?" The two heard Chuck ask Thomas and Minho, who were sitting on the ground beside Alby.
"Yeah, I saw one." Thomas nodded
"He didn't just see it." Minho shook his head as Newt and Wren went over
"He killed it." Wren knelt down
