It turns out, not everyone who points a gun at you is a bad person. The two women - Sonya and Harriet - were a part of the right arm, and in the maze with Aris. They ended up leading the group to the Right Arm.—
Everyone got out of the cars and looked at the campsite before them. It was not what they had expected. No war preparations or danger, it just looked like a normal campsite.
"They've been planning this for over a year now." Harriet explained as she and Sonya led the group into the camp. "This is all for us."
"Immunes?" Wren asked, to which Harriet nodded.
"You guys are lucky you found us when you did." Sonya explained. "We're moving out at first light."
Wren took hold of Newt's hand and looked around. She noticed that Teresa seemed uneasy.
"Where's Vince?" Sonya asked a guy.
"Somewhere over there, I think." The guy replied, indicating them to an area, so that's where they went.
"Who's Vince?" Thomas asked
"He's the one who decides if you get to stay." Harriet explained
"I thought the Right Arm was supposed to be an army." Minho said, earning a elbow to the gut by Wren.
"Yeah, we were." A man walked over, he was probably Vince. "This is all that's left of us." He indicated around himself. "A lot of good people died getting us this far." Vince paused, looking at the ground for a moment. "Who are they?"
"They're immunes." Harriet told him. "Cause 'em coming up the mountain."
"Did you check 'em?" Vince asked
Harriet pointed to Aris. "I know this guy, Aris. I trust him." She walked over to stand beside Vince.
"Well, I don't. Check 'em." He told some others.
Wren noticed that Brenda seemed woozy and her breathing was uneven.
"Hey, boss..." one of the men said, indicating to Brenda.
Brenda gasped for air and fell forwards, hitting the floor.
"Brenda! Brenda!" Jorge immediately rushed to her aid and lifted her slightly so he could look at her. "Brenda, talk to me."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Brenda croaked out.
Wren rummaged through her bag frantically and found a flask. She grabbed it, dropped her bag, and ran to Brenda, kneeling between Brenda and Vince.
"Stand back, girl." Vince clocked his gun and pointed it towards them
"Hold on." Wren told him, fussing to take the top off the flask. She managed to get it off and found the wound on Brenda's leg, so that's where she began to pour the fluid.
"What is that?" Jorge asked, the panic in his eyes clear as day to Wren.
Wren pulled the flask away and went to put the lid on, but felt the tip of a gun at the back of her head. She froze in place and dropped the flask, spilling the remains of the fluid.
"Hey!" A yell from the group came, but she was too focused on the gun at the back of her head to figure out who said it.
"What was that? What did you give her?" Vince - the one pointing the gun at her - asked.
"Go on. Shoot me." A small smirk formed at the corners of Wren's mouth. "But if you do, you won't find out the cure."
Everyone around them froze, and Vince lowered the gun. "What are you talking about?" He asked. "You know the cure?"
"And you made me drop the last of it." Wren indicated to the spillage on the ground.
"Don't shoot!" A woman walked over, her hands raised to stop Vince from shooting Wren. She looked down at Wren, realisation spreading across her face. "Wren Paige?" She looked at the group as well. "Thomas?"
"You know us?" Thomas walked over to stand beside Wren, who also stood up.
The woman furrowed her brows. "Interesting. It makes sense they'd put you both into the maze." She walked over to Brenda to take a look. "Though, I must admit, I was worried they'd kill you, Thomas, after what you did. Not you though, Wren, they want to keep you alive for as long as possible, no matter what you do."
Thomas stuttered. "What I did?"
The woman looked up at Thomas. "The first time we spoke, you said you couldn't take it anymore, watching your friends die, one by one. Watching the person you called sister fight for her life, unable to help. The last time we spoke, you gave me the coordinates of every WCKED compound, trail and lab."
"He was our source." Vince said, his gun now away.
"I asked you who it was that you called sister. You said 'Wren Paige'." She continued
"I'm sorry. But, who are you?" Wren asked
"Mary." She smiled then looked down at Brenda's body. "Take her to the tent. Get these guys some warm clothes."
They lifted Brenda away to a tent in the distance and everyone took a moment to breathe. Thomas looked over at Teresa, but she was looking at Wren, who was looking at Newt. Wren walked over to Newt and hugged him, sighing of relief.
