(I apologize for not uploading anything. I've been busy finishing my novel, which is done now and is ready to read! 🌷 And here's another episode of this story, I will be more active writing the story now. 🤍)
C19: The Schedule
As I lost my subconscious, I felt as if I dwelled in the past.
"Jean...?" Thomas's voice was clear as if this wasn't a flashback but a reality. "What are you doing here?"
"You think it's going to solve the problem, Thomas? All of you here are crazy!" My voice cracked as I almost tore up.
My head hurt, and the dream shifted to a hospital room. In front of me was Dr. Irene- the doctor who helped us to escape from Janson's sanctuary.
"Maybe you should see the person in front of you, Jean."
I regained my consciousness with Brenda's hard shakes on my arms.
"Let's go. They are coming. This place is going to explode in a few minutes." She rushed me toward the exit without explaining anything.
At the base floor, we met up with Jorge and the others. When my eyes met Thomas's, the fact that we were a married couple hit me like a winter blaze.
Based on what Jorge explained about the situation, he had sold us back to WCKD and suddenly changed his mind about helping us escape.
Since this was an old building, some of the floors had fallen, so Brenda used the rope as the last alternative to get to the other side of the building.
It was my turn once Teresa, Newt, Frypan, Minho, Aris, and Jorge had passed to the other side.
"Don't be scared," Thomas reassured.
I couldn't pass to the other side of the building when we were rained by bullets coming from nowhere. Thomas pulled me out of the edge of the building as Brenda ran off into the building. We'd followed her that we had many encounters with WCKD soldiers- firing us.
We managed to escape by getting into the tunnel leading to the underground tunnel. As WCKD's soldiers were still on our tail, we ran into the underground tunnel.
The rotten smells stung my nostrils as I covered my nose and turned on the torchlight. Even though we were inside this tunnel filled with puddles, we could still feel the heat.
Thomas pulled me to him, "Y/N, you good?"
Brenda stopped as she looked at us- probably thinking about my past again.
I nodded, "Yeah. Newt-"
"Don't worry about them. They'll be fine." Thomas assured, "we'll find our way out of here and look for Marcus. I'm sure we can find them there."
I flinched when a mouse passed through my legs before stopping near the roots on the floor. Thomas pointed his torch to where the mouse was, and the nausea got me. The wall was covered with roots that grew from nowhere, and behind those roots on the wall, there were at least a few bodies tangled with the roots.
