Amelia's POV
As soon as she and Sebastian crossed the threshold into Potions class, pretty much every station was packed except for a few straggler stools. Excited and eager chatter fills the room and Amelia kept wondering why everyone was so excited for Potions class today. Maybe because it was the first day of classes back at Hogwarts?
"Where do you plan to sit?" Amelia asks Sebastian.
He glances around the room, looking for any available seats for them, "Not sure-"
"Hi, Sebastian!"
They both turn towards the voice and see Adelaide Oakes strolling up next to Sebastian, batting her eyelashes and flashing her best smile.
Amelia pursed her lips.
"Hey," Sebastian greets her with a grin.
"Do you want to sit together? I have a station already and could use a partner," she was practically pleading.
Sebastian seems confused for a second and hesitates, looking down at her and reading her expression.
He turns his head towards Amelia with an unreadable glint in his eyes. As he does this, Adelaide glares at her with a hint of jealousy showing in her features.
With how much has already happened on her first day, she didn't feel like dealing with anyone else today. He was just a friend. She didn't need some random jealous girl thinking of ways to hex her.
Sebastian parts his lips to speak, but Amelia was already speaking up.
"It's fine," Amelia reassures him, pointing towards Garreth Weasley's open station, "I'll go sit with Garreth, you two go ahead."
Sebastian furrows his eyebrows at her in disbelief. "Wha-"
"Come on, Seb!" Adelaide exclaims, grabbing his forearm and practically dragging him to her station.
Merlin, let him say what he had to say first.
She made her way over to Garreth's station who was setting up his ingredients. As soon as she sat down in her stool next to him and began pulling out her own, he turned to her with a wide grin.
"Ah, the Hero of Hogwarts," he muses, "Good to see you again!"
She hated that bloody nickname, but she brushed it off because... well, it's Garreth.
She once had a very, and she means very small crush on Garreth during her fifth year. It was gone within a few days. She had actually grown to like Garreth a lot as a friend, but they were never that close.
Not like how she and Sebastian were.
"Good to see you too, Garreth. How was your summer?" She offers him a kind smile.
"Oh the usual, still working at J. Pippins like I have for the past few summers now."
"Not blowing up potions there, are you?" She jokes.
"Hey, I've gotten better since fifth year," he pouts.
She chuckles and playfully pats his hand, "There, there Garreth. I'm sure you have.".
At that moment, she could feel eyes on the back of her head. His eyes.
How can she sense it, though?
She can't even linger on it before Garreth's voice is pulling her out of her thoughts.
"I'll even prove it to you today, did you hear what we'll be brewing?" He asks with a knowing smirk, leaning his elbow against the station.
