Chloe:

They were gone.

Everyone who was a threat to our family was killed and buried in unmarked graves. That was what took them so long to return. The next few days were spent sorting out drama that needed to be sorted out. Miliani found out her mother was still alive so that was interesting. She also relinquished her title as the leader of the Hwang Jopok clan, passing it on to her elder brother Gi. She made that decision before Vincenzo asked her to marry him which she agreed to so she would become the first lady of the Ravello family mafia.

Her adoptive brother Dwayne turned out to be Vincenzo's mother's first son whom she left behind and that was the reason for his revenge quest. He wanted to kill everyone in the entire Ravello line because he was under the impression that Gerardo and his family were the reason why his mother never came back for him. It turned out, his father was the reason he never got to see his mother again.

He also admitted to helping Miliani's uncle along with his father take over the Jopok because he saw it as a way to get close to the Ravello family to exact his revenge. As for Ronald and Jake, they were both part of a gang that was in league with Dwayne and it turns out Mike was too. Everything finally made sense but it was still so eery how all of our experiences connected like this.

Christian and I, along with his family agreed to take on and take back the last name Ravello which we officially did before leaving Italy. Mom remained in Italy with Dad and they plan to get married before the end of the year. I was happy that she now had the love of her life by her side.

We were home now. Christian moved us closer to the office building, and our new house was beautiful, filled with pictures of us and our family. The twins also had their own individual nurseries which my husband insisted on. If it were left to me they would be in the same room but I had to agree with their father when he said they would have their own rooms anyway as they got older so why not do it now?

As for our Lisabeth, we had to start her therapy treatment again. I initially thought Lydia was the one to kill Jake but it was Lisabeth. That was why she fainted afterward. The therapist was a woman who was issued to us by the Cosa Nostra and she specialized in helping kids work through their first kill so I know my daughter was in good hands.

Besides her therapy sessions, she spent her days looking after her siblings, catching up with her friends, and calling her grandparents every Wednesday. Though they were in different time zones they did their best to always answer when she called. They may be late but they haven't missed her calls.

Rachel and Roger were now living together. Christian was not thrilled, as always. I had no idea why he didn't like seeing them together but he couldn't do a thing about it. Rachel was happy and that was all that mattered.

My friends also have been coming over to check on me and help me with the twins since I've been back. They missed me all those months I was away and weren't willing to space out spending time with me. My husband was very annoyed to come home to a full house every day but he understood that I couldn't just be home all day doing nothing. He wants me to come back to work as soon as I'm able but he isn't rushing me which I am very grateful for. He keeps reminding me why I love him so much and I thank God that we met every chance I get.

Speaking of my husband, he takes me out every week for us to have alone time and he also makes time to carry Lisabeth to the places she likes. We usually leave the twins with Rachel when we go out. Now that we didn't have to look over our shoulders every two minutes, we were finally able to fully enjoy our relationship. I've never felt so loved and appreciated in my entire life.

In fact, we were on our way to a date right now but Rachel and Roger were running late.

"Where could they be?" Christian grumbled, fixing his cuff links.

I sighed, rocking Armina and Armani in my arms. I was careful to keep them close to my chest, away from the fabric of my pink cocktail dress. They both were staring up at me with their crystal blue eyes that were so much like their father's. I was still stunned that my eyes didn't pass down to them but I was also glad and relieved. For me, it symbolized the breaking of my family's curse of bad marriages.

"I swear, Rachel is always late. Our reservation will expire soon if she doesn't—"

"We're here!"

The front door of our house is opened to reveal my best friend and her boyfriend. Christian glared at them while they gave us sheepish smiles. I chuckled, shaking my head as they came toward me and took the twins out of my arms.

"You know the drill," I told my best friend while grabbing my purse.

She winked my way, "Of course I do. Where is my favorite niece?"

"Lisabeth is asleep," my husband responded, "She had a long day with the therapist."

Rachel nodded her head in understanding before she and Roger shooed us away. Christian took us to a newly opened restaurant and we had a lovely dinner. Then he took me to the nearby boardwalk for a stroll. He held my hand in his as we walked in silence, enjoying the scent of the ocean and the coldness of the breeze against our skin.

"Did I say you look beautiful tonight, baby?" he mumbled, twirling me around mid-walk.

I giggled as he smirked at me and nodded, "Only like ten times."

"Well let's make it the eleventh, you look stunning in that dress, Mrs. Ravello."

I winked, "You don't look too bad yourself, Mr. Ravello."

He laughed, planting his feet on the ground and pulling me against his chest. I squealed, throwing my arms around his neck as he immediately claimed my lips. I tasted the wine we had with our dinner earlier on his lips as his fingers curled into my side.

"I love you," he whispered between the kiss, "I'll never let anything happen to you again."

I pulled away from the kiss, looking into his eyes as I searched through the emotion in them. I knew he didn't feel like he did enough to protect me but the fact that I got out of everything with just a flesh wound was proof that he did his best.

"I trust you, Christian," I mumbled, "And I love you too."

"I know, baby. I promise you, we're safe now; nothing like that will ever happen again."

I smiled, holding his face between my hands, "You can't promise me that, we're carrying your family's name now but if there is any danger or threat that comes to us again, we'll get through it together. I won't leave, I won't blame you, I will fight by your side."

His eyes softened and leaned forward kissing my forehead, "I really don't deserve you, Chloe. I'm doing everything in my power to earn my place by your side. I'm not exactly a good person but you loved me despite everything. Thank you, baby."

I pecked his lips, "Because of you I know what it means to feel loved. Because of you I am happy and have a family of my own. You're a great partner and wonderful father so don't ever think yourself unworthy of me. You have more than proven that you are."

He sighed, "Chloe, I love you so much."

"And I love you too, Christian and I always will."
