Hindsight
Season 9 x 10
December, 2002:

i was buttoning up my black pants when luka buttoned up his shirt in front of my mirror.
"i like it when you have a little bit of stubble on your chin" i smirked
we were heading off to susan's christmas party.
he smiled back at me, but he seemed off.
"you okay?"
he shrugged his shoulders.
"thinking about your kids?" i whispered, looking down.
i heard about what happened to his wife and kids awhile back. it wasn't until a few weeks ago when he told me himself.
he stepped closer to me.
"yeah"
"i'm sorry, luka"
he shook his head
"i'm happy to have you, my girlfriend"
i raised an eyebrow
"girlfriend?"
he was confused. "yeah?"
"you haven't asked me out yet" i laughed
"now i have" he smirked
"i'm happy to have you too, boyfriend"
i placed a kiss on his lips.
——
susan's party was definitely partying. after two drinks, i was feeling pretty good.
we were all gathered in susan's living room. i sat next to luka with his arm was wrapped around me.
"i didn't know you were together" chen smirked , elbowing me.
"secrets out" i whispered
susan was opening gifts and she raised an eyebrow, holding it up.
"who got me candy panties?"
"thought it would spruce up your sex life" i shrugged, grinning.
"only from you, gianna"
i took a sip of my cocktail
"what's that suppose to mean?" i laughed
"i think you know exactly what that means" abby cackled
"i don't know if i should be offended or not"
"that means you have a good sex life" chuny giggled.
——
in the next room was hawkins and gallant dancing together with the occasional mouth to mouth.
luka and i were now in the kitchen, getting another drink.
luka poured a shot of tequila.
i didn't know where susan was, she was probably on her kitchen table dancing with chen.
luka held up the glass.
"i don't think you should" i sighed
"you take half" he said, downing part of the glass.
i took the other half, letting out a groan.
god i was gonna feel this in the morning.
"wanna dance?" i smiled
"luka doesn't dance" he smirked.
i'd never seen him so sloppy-drunk before.
"hey, wanna request a song?" chen shouted, putting down an empty glass of vodka.
"i'm blanking out" i shrugged
"get out there dancing!" she shouted, going back into the dining room.
i looked at luka, smirking.

i sat practically on lukas lap on susan's couch. speaking of susan, she was now singing karaoke. it was an interesting rendition of jingle bell rock. chuny came around the couch, handing luka and i a shot.
"i don't know if i can" i told her
"of course you can" she laughed, walking away.
luka handed me the glass, snaking his arm back around my waist.
i clinked my glass against his, pouring it down my mouth.
"mm" he said, i let out a laugh.
"how many have we had?" i asked, turning closer to him. i put my leg up on the couch, latching my arm around his neck.
"i don't know" he smiled
"i think we need to slow it down" i whispered
"mhm" he said, looking at my lips.
i pressed mine into his, letting out another laugh.
abby came behind us after we separated.
"alright love birds, john and i have to go" she laughed
"have a good night" i smiled
"i know you two are gonna have a good one" she smirked
"congratulations" she nodded, raising an eyebrow.
"you both seem really happy"
"you too" i smiled
"merry christmas" luka nodded
"almost" carter cackled, walking away.
i looked at luka, letting out a giggle.
"we're sloppy drunk now, aren't we?"
"i think we're passed that point"

the next morning ———

i woke up just about unclothed in my bed. lukas face was dug into my neck.
i learned a few things last night:
luka was a very emotional, tired drunk person. still all over me though.
i heard from many different people all my life that i was a party animal when drunk. you know, the type of girl that couldn't get her hands off you. i guess that's how i ended up in this bed with luka last night. i hardly remember any of it, though.
"i gotta get up" i whispered
he let out a groan.
eventually, i got out of my bed and headed into my bathroom. my whole body was sore and i looked like hell. puffy eyes and tangled hair.
before hopping in the shower, i took a ibuprofen for my pounding head. god, was i ever hung over.
