It's been two weeks since I found out Ella was pregnant.
Was.
She lost the baby. We found out last week and it's crushing. It really is but she won't admit it. She just sits there and smiles like nothing happened. But I know that she just wants to cry. That's all she wants to do and I can tell.
"El? Can we talk?" I walked into the living room where she was reading a book on the couch.
"Not right now," she whispered and waved me away.
"No, Ella. We're talking I don't care if you don't want to talk you can just listen but either way I'm going to set this straight," I walked over to her and closed her book, setting it on the table next to the couch.
"Okay. Talk," she sighed in defeat and sat up straight.
"It's not your fault, El. You have to understand that. And no one is blaming you for it. There is so much for me to be grateful for. I'm so grateful that you even got to carry the kid for a little while. You have to look at the bright side of things, El. Some people don't even get the chance to be pregnant for just a few weeks," I spoke softly.
"I was able to carry Blake all the way through and she's healthy what did I do wrong this time?" She cried.
"You didn't do anything wrong, Ella. You did what you could. You can't blame yourself for this. But you also can't pretend that nothing happened. It's okay to talk to me about it, it really is," I pulled her into my lap and pushed her hair behind her ear.
"What if Blake was just a lucky chance? What if I won't be able to get pregnant again? I want a big family Hunter," she continued to cry.
"I know you do. And we will have a big family. It will happen okay? I promise," I whispered.
"You can't promise that," she whispered so soft that I could barely make out what she was saying.
"I can Ella. I will do anything I have to do to keep that promise," I chuckled and winked at her.
"Mmhmm," she laughed and slapped my chest gently.
"Are you okay now?" I asked her.
"Yeah. Thank you."
"Anything for you," she smiled and I kissed her forehead.
"Reality is rough," she sighed.
"Yeah. Yeah it is."
