This chapter has the scene which borne this entire fic so if you don't like it, I don't care.

A week passed in the blink of an eye. The kids really did love you and you took turns who you played with. You tried to play with everyone and be fair, but there were times you just wanted to sit and talk with your girls. Of course they also got along with the kids and you all attended tea parties and played with your powers. Alma watched over you all from afar, never being one to play with the children often. She was very bird-like in her distant observation habits.

In this moment, Farah was putting on a light show outside and Moiraine was playing football with the boys. You knew Hugh and Millard loved both teaching the Aes Sedai and Enoch joined the game finally. You needed a break from the bright sun and all of the attention. So you watched the lovely people through the window over the kitchen sink. You held a mug in your hand and someone was watching you from behind.

Alma had frozen in the doorway, on her way back from the Hollow. Her crossbow was safely hanging above the phone and she was ready to commence lunch. However, seeing you so relaxed and unaware of her made her pause to observe you. It wasn't unfamiliar setting and that's how you knew she was there. It wasn't her fond thoughts though you got that and felt the overwhelming swell of love in her chest.

"Are you just going to stare?" you asked simply.

Upon realizing you were aware of her presence, Alma walked up behind you. "It's divine that you're Home." She rested her hand on your shoulder and squeezed.

You paused for a moment, looking down. This was what you were afraid of. You weren't planning to stay long and you still had school to think about. You had a new relationship you had to learn. You had a thousand reasons to leave and you would gain more to stay away.

Alma was always so careful of her nails so it was intentional when they dug into the cloth covering your shoulder. Still, you hissed and met her gaze. There was a storm brewing beneath Alma's calm facade. "I do hate the Normal world for always taking my Wards. It seems now I have two more realms to be envious of."

You wanted to say something, anything! But you couldn't.

So Alma retracted her hand and just took a breath. "I have to make lunch."

"Want some help?" you offered.

The navy-clad caregiver froze and stared at you. You still sensed the storm, but it got buried beneath her duties. She nodded slowly with a faint, hopeful grin. She hadn't planned anything extensive and so she just directed you.

In the midst of following her every command, there were periods of silence. You could feel her staring the whole time. Any time she wasn't moving, you could feel her gaze. Well, you decided, if there was even a time to speak to her, it was time. "We need to find a way to communicate more regularly," you tried to breach lightly with a laugh.

"Visit," Alma decided clippedly. She sounded so matter of fact, like usual. She also decided swiftly to step up behind you, taking your hands and guiding them. "There. You see how-"

You shut your eyes and tried to block out the feel of her controlling your hands with her own. You shut out the sound of her voice and the feel of her front against your back. You were drowning in her perfume and her feeling. Nothing about this was like when you lived here, as a minor. "Yes," you breathed out simultaneously trying to forget the feeling of her breath on your ear. Alma's grip tightened and you heard her swallow. It coerced you to look over your shoulder, and then it was your turn to gulp. Mostly seeming surprised, Alma's usually controlled features were lax and a wildfire ignited in her teal orbs. "I- I see. I... understand."
