Taehyung darted his eyes around Jungkook's old room in the mansion. It had been the alpha's room until he bought his penthouse after his alpha father relinquished his position as CEO and gave it to Jungkook. There's still a faint cinnamon scent lingering throughout the space.

The pair was seated on the bed. None wanted to initiate the talk. The silence lasted for minutes until Jungkook gathered all his courage to break the ice. He lowered his head as he nervously fiddled his fingers. He has always been confident in front of other people even with his family but with Taehyung he's just a nervous wreck, especially with what transpired a week ago. "I-i'm really sorry. You don't deserve what I had put you through. I really didn't know that helping someone will cause a mess, a scandal. I underestimated the media. They sensationalized it and made it bigger than what it really was. And then my ex-secretary fueled it by lying on his social media account."

The omega stayed quiet with a blank expression that heightened Jungkook's anxiety. "I want you to know that I regret it and I have learned my lesson." Jungkook said, remorsefully.

"Well, do you-?" Taehyung asked with a raised brow.

"Do I regret it? Yes, of course-"

"No, I was asking if you have learned your lesson. Do you know why I ignored you, why I refused to talk to you after I found out that you drove home an unmated omega?" Taehyung looked him straight in the eyes, waiting for his reply.

"Because you thought I was going to cheat on you?" Jungkook replied or more like asked because at this point he doesn't know what to think anymore. He just wants their relationship to go back the way it was before the misunderstanding.

Taehyung chuckled, shaking his head. "It seems you have misinterpreted the real reason I distanced myself from you for a while. I have never doubted your loyalty, Kookie. I know you would never cheat on me. You had never spent your ruts with others because you were waiting for me. You waited, despite not remembering me. That was proof enough of your loyalty. I ignored you not because I didn't trust you. It is because I want you to realize that it isn't only you who will be afflicted by your actions." Taehyung paused and stared at the wall across from them. "Remember when you disappeared on me when we were five? I have spent most of my growing years waiting and crying for you in that playground, but I never lose hope. I waited for you, though there was a very slim chance that we'll see each other again. That's how much I trust you."

"Tae-" Jungkook whispered in a tiny guilt-ridden voice. The gravity of his mistake weighed down on them, threatening their bond.

Taehyung shushed him. "But that doesn't mean you can go around and take care of every drunk unmated omegas you would come across. Drive them home when you can fucking call a cab or ask any of your trusted employees to take them home because you are fucking engaged! T-that incident with your secretary, do you think it only affected you? If you really want our wedding to push through, then get rid of your naivety. A lot of unmated omegas are like hungry predators waiting to pounce on you at every chance they could get and you are handing them that on a silver platter. While I will be constantly ridiculed because it will appear to them that I'm not enough for you, that you still make yourself available to those hungry bitches." Taehyung was breathless after that. His eyes were filled with mixed emotions when he peered at Jungkook.
