EWW: The Countdown

[The episode begins with Darwin preparing for school. He draws on his face, "puts on" his legs, and draws a watch on his wrist. Looking at the time, he is alarmed and runs off to Gumball]
This whole opening scene has a lot of implications that are...confusing. Darwin draws on his face every single day? How can he even see through drawn on eyes? And his legs are actually pants..or a single pant each technically? Even though we've seen him remove his shoes seperately before? How does any of this make sense? +5

[Looking at the time, he is alarmed and runs off to Gumball]
Darwin can somehow read the time on a drawn on watch. +1

Gumball: [Still sleeping] Ugh. I'll get up when the alarm goes off.
Darwin: But you've already pressed the snooze button!
Gumball: That was five minutes ago.
Darwin: That was an hour ago! Snooze time goes faster than regular time.
Ugh, I hate that this is true. You can close your eyes for a few seconds and BAM suddenly it's been like an hour. Like, what the fuck how does that even work? -1

Gumball: I just found the perfect position.
[Darwin pulls the blanket away from Gumball, uncovering his twisted body]
Darwin: Dude, you look like you fell from the seventh floor.
He's a cat. Sleeping in the most uncomfortable and painful looking positions known to man is what cats do. Gumball being comfortable like this should not be even remotely a surprise +1

Darwin: No! We're already late. Look!
[Darwin carries Gumball to the window, where they see the school bus leave]
Anais not being here means that she got on the bus without them and didn't even bother to wake Gumball up or to warn him or Darwin about the time or that the bus had arrived. Aka, Anais is a dick +1

Gumball: Alright! What we need is a good excuse. We need something embarrassing that Miss Simian totally wouldn't want to know about like "sorry, Miss. It's because Darwin made a bad taco, and, well..." [Acts like he has a bad stomach, then acts like he is puking]
This would only explain why Darwin was late. Him being sick has nothing to do with you getting to school on time +1

[Flashback. Back at class, Miss Simian talks to the two]
Lucy Simian: ...and if you turn up late again, I will have no choice but to... [Becomes muffled]
Gumball: [Off-screen] No. All I remember is that I never noticed before how the top of her head looks like Mount Fuji.
Firstly...huh I never noticed that either. -1

Secondly, I'm somewhat surprised that Gumball knows the name of Mount Fuji and what it looks like. Would have expected him to just say "like a mountain". Even in small moments like this he manages to surprise me with his intelligence -1

Darwin: She said [Acts like Miss Simian] "If you turn up late again, I'll have no choice but to expel you both!"
Issue is Miss Simian, as a regular teacher, does not have the authority to do such a thing. All she has the power to do is give them detention or send them to Principal Brown and let him decide their punishment. Aka, this is an empty threat and they should know this +1

Gumball: Right. How long have we got?
[An omnipresent counter appears above them, starting a countdown to zero from six minutes and twenty-three seconds. Gumball and Darwin are surprised by the timer]
We never get any explantion for this timer. At all. Not even an attempt at one. It just appears randomly and then is gone by the next episode. Like, c'mon, you couldn't have at least tried to give some reasoning for it? Like, maybe their alarm clock was from the Awesome Store and thus has some weird ability to show the time wherever you are upon voice actvation. If even I can come up with some shitty explanation in not even a minute surely the writers could have as well. +10
