I have had feelings for my best guy friend, Kim Woonhak for years. We have been best friends since we were about 10. I've tried to tell him how I feel but I don't want to ruin the friendship we have that's strong and special so I keep my feelings to myself. I've told my older sister how I feel and she said I should bite the bullet and tell him how I feel before it's too late. I'm not the kind of person who expresses their romantic feelings. Woonhak and I are very close and I almost feel like I can tell him anything but I can't tell him that I have feelings for him, that I'm in love with him. I just don't want to ruin my friendship with my best friend. Maybe we will be friends forever or become more than friends. Today is my birthday. I'm 18 today and I'm going out with my family tonight for a nice birthday meal to one of my favourite restaurants in town. My mom and dad made the reservation months ago when they knew where I wanted to go. Before I go out with my family, I'm stopping off at Woonhak's house as he said he's got a surprise for me for my birthday so I'm excited to find out what is it. I'm not going out for a couple of hours but I'm excited so I thought I'd start getting ready a bit earlier than I would. I'm looking forward to seeing Woonhak before I go out with my family. I start by doing my hair and makeup sitting at my dresser. I already have my dress laid out and ready to go. I get rest and then off to Woonhak's which is within walking distance from my place so I make it there soon. I ring Woonhak's doorbell and wait for him to answer. "Hello, birthday girl. Happy birthday. Come in" he exclaims with a smile on his face. "Hi, bestie. Thank you" I reply. I step in the house and kick my shoes off and I can smell an aroma of something nice. "I want you to close your eyes first" Woonhak said. I closed my eyes and he lead me into the kitchen by holding my hand. He asks me to open his eyes and he exclaims "Happy Birthday again, Y/ N. I made you a birthday cake. Well I tried at least". He had the kitchen decorated with balloons and stuff and things that said 18 on. It looked so cute and colourful and it was all for me too. "I can't believe you would do all this for me, Woonie" I smile. "Well you're my best friend, Y/ N and you're 18 so I had to" he replies. "Aawww you're too cute, sweet and kind" I say. Woonhak blushes and he goes all quiet for a second which is not always like him. The cake looks so good and delicious so can't wait to eat it

I stayed for a bit at Woonhak's. I tried not to lose track of time so I could make it on time to my family meal. When I'm with Woonhak, I feel so happy and elated but I haven't told him that yet. He made me a delicious looking cake with my name on it that I'm saving for later after my meal or tomorrow and he got me some sweet and thoughtful gifts too. My heart was so happy and full. Woonhak got me a hoodie I wanted when we were out shopping so that was nice. He also got me a nice necklace too and some perfume which I wasn't expecting so I was really thrilled and over the moon. I unfortunately had to rush off and go as my family were waiting outside for me in the car so I didn't want to keep them waiting too long. "Sorry, Woonhak. I have to dash. My family are waiting in the car. Thank you so much for having me and everything you've done" I say. "You're welcome. Sad you have to go" he smiles. "I know I wish I could stay longer but I can come tomorrow" I reply. "Sure. I'd love that. Oh, Y/ N don't forget the cake. It's in a box. I want you to have it and share it with your family. I-I hope you and them like it" Woonhak said. "Oh yes sorry I almost forgot. Thank you. It's delicious. I'll try take it home before I go out" I reply. "Oh okay" he said pulling me in for the biggest and longest hug ever. "Enjoy your birthday meal with your family, bestie and I'll see you soon" Woonhak said. He walked me out to the car and I got in with my presents. My dad said he could join us but he refused as it's family but Woonhak is sort of part of the family as I've known him for so long. Looking forward to seeing him soon

Woonhak's POV

I saw Y/ N the day after her birthday and we went and saw a movie with her at the cinema. It was her choice. She wanted to do something with me. The truth is I've actually always been crazy about Y/ N. She has always been my best friend but I feel something more for her now. I have romantic feelings for her. I've always been a shy type of guy who's not too confident with himself or to admit feelings to people. I've always felt some way about Y/ N. She's always been my best friend. If only I can find a way to tell her how I feel. I hope deep down she feels the same way when I tell her. Today I'm surprising Y/ N with a movie night at my place. My parents are out for the evening so I wanted to have her round to my place. We want to watch some good movies together. I'll let Y/ N chose what she wants to watch as it was just her birthday. I've bought lots of snacks and drinks for us and I'm gonna order pizza when she gets here. Pizza is one of Y/ N's favourite meal. I am expecting her to arrive anytime now so I'm getting things ready. Snacks in bowls and drinks on the table. I hear the doorbell ringing and it's Y/ N of course. "Hey, bestie. Come" I say. "Hey, thanks for having me" she smiles pulling me in for a big hug. She comes in and takes off her shoes. "Happy birthday again" I say. "It's already been my birthday but thank you" she smiles. "Sit down and I'll order us pizza while you chose a movie" I say. "Okay sure. Two pizzas should be enough and maybe some mozzarella sticks. I like those too" Y/ N said. "Anything for you, my dear" I smile. I order the pizzas and we dig into the snacks and decide on a movie to watch. We both like Marvel so we went with an Avengers movie to watch. We waited for the pizza delivery to come and it came soon. We tried not to eat too many snacks before the pizza arrived. About half an hour into the movie we heard the doorbell ring. It was the delivery man so I took the pizzas and we dived in. Y/ N and I were laughing when we were eating. Not at the movie. I can see Y/ N moving a bit closer to me throughout the movie. "Want the last slice of pizza?" I ask. "No I'm good thanks. You have it" she smiles. "Okay" I giggle. All the pizza and most of the snacks were gone in no time. They didn't last long haha. We put on another movie after the one we were watching. We were both stuffed from all the food we had been eating

We fall asleep while watching the movie. Well Y/ N does on my shoulder. I can't help but think how sweet and peaceful she looks asleep. I didn't want to disturb her but I really needed to go to the bathroom. Like really needed to. I prop her head up on the couch. She was right out. When I returned from the bathroom, Y/ N had woken up and yawns. "Hey, where did you go" she asks. "Sorry I really needed to go to the bathroom. You fell asleep on me" I reply. "Sorry" Y/ N laughs. "No need to be. It was ummm well fine" I reply. She laughs again. "I need to to try and wake up now as my mom is expecting me home by midnight" she says. "No problem I'll have you home by midnight. It's about 10:30 now so plenty of time to watch more movies" I say. "Sure. Maybe we could watch another one" she smiles. We put on another movie on Netflix but i couldn't sit and keeping still. Neither could Y/ N. Something was on our minds. "Y/ N" I say. "Woonhak" she interrupts and says. "There is something I want to tell you" we both say in unison. "Go on. You first" I say. "Okay I don't know where to start but I may think of you in another way. Not just my best friend" she says. "Okay" I say confused. "Ummm what I'm trying to say is, Woonhak. I have feelings for you. You're my best friend and I love you" Y/ N says. "Well that's what I was going to say too. I have feelings for you too. I thought you were too blind to see my feelings for you" I say. "No no I thought you were too blind to see my feelings but it turns out we both feel the same about each other. That's what best friends are for" she says. "Yep it is. I wanted to give you a birthday to remember that's why I made you that cake and got you all those gifts" I say. "You're the sweetest, Hakie. That's why I love you" I say. "You're the most amazing girl in the world, Y/ N" I say. We both shuffled closer to each other and leaned in and kiss. We then snuggle close on the couch and feel asleep together. Y/ N and I both admitted our feelings to one another and it felt amazing. All these years we've found true love
