Epilogue

Gracie's POV

Rubbing my temples with the tips of my fingers in attempt to fight off the on coming headache being caused by none other than Sarah.

"I mean come on momma everybody is going." she pouted as I walked around the breakfast table and out to the backyard to where the rest of the family was enjoying the warm spring air

"Well your not everybody and the answer is still no." I said sternly

"But momma." she whined throwing her hands in the air dramatically "I'm fifteen years old I think I can handle a party."

Whipping around I caught by surprise with the angry scold written on my face. All day Sarah has been bugging me to go to this girl's party Friday and frankly I am sick and tired of her whining. Pointing my index finger out I shook my head noticing the stubbornness she had just a second ago completely faded and now replaced with fear of what I am going to say.

"Yes your fifteen all the more reason for me to not allow you to go to this unsupervised party at some strange boy's house who's intention is not appropriate not to mention the alcohol that will be there."

"I'm not stupid enough to drink. You can trust me." she said her voice cracking as she stared up at me with round emerald gems glistening with tears

My shoulders slumped from their tense position, reaching my arms out she immediately ran into them and hugged me tightly.

"I do sweetheart it's the other children I don't trust." I said kissing the side of her cheek

My little girl was now my height perhaps a inch or two taller. One minute she was still clinging to my knees and the next she was stretching behind my own reach, she sniffed burying her face in my neck.

"Not everyone is as kind hearted as you baby, someone might slip something into your drink or pull you to a corner and I wouldn't be able to help you." I said as I kissed the top of her head

She sighed in defeat knowing I wasn't backing down on this one. Pulling away she nodded causing her dark ringlets that hung down halfway down her back to bounce up. Pulling an arms length away I smiled as I examined my now grown up girl. Her innocent wide green eyes still had a childlike gleam, her small button nose barely there, her heart shaped red lips stuck out against her pale creamy complexion. To Jason's horror Sarah had gone through puberty early for her age she had grown lovely round hips, a narrow waist and decent sized breasts that made her seem older. Sarah seemed to have taken after me down to the annoying little habits I can't shake off.

"So I can't change your mind?" she asked biting her bottom lip like I do

Smiling I dropped my hands from her arms "Not at all."

Sucking her teeth she opened her mouth ready to argue again when a small dark headed boy tossed a small unknown thing at Sarah's chest as he grinned up at her.

"What is-ewwwwwww!" she shrieked and swiped her hands over her chest at the one inch earthworm that slid up her exposed collarbone

Covering his mouth with his hands the little rascal giggled as Sarah jumped up and down screaming. Not surprised by the cute little boy I peeled the worm off of Sarah's chest and placed the little guy in the roses growing at the side of the house.
