Chapter 20

Day One

Gracie's POV

The early rays of the sun shined through the aqua curtains causing me to stir one way before opening my eyes groggily. Propping myself up on my elbows I felt stiff and achy all over.

Dr. Feller mentioned I'd be sore for a few days, I sure miss the pain medication now. Throwing the blankets off of me I rolled to the side of the bed slowly placing my feet on the ground.

Taking a deep breath I walked to the bathroom that was apart of the room. Grasping the side of the salmon pink sink I looked at my reflection with horror. My pale white skin was marked with purple and black bruises with a few that were yellow. Under my eyes were circled with dark rings that I wasn't were from Ben or my lack of sleep. My cheeks were a bit hallow, I haven't eaten since the day of the bake sale.

On the sink was a new blue toothbrush still in it's package. Jason really has gone out of his way, I thought as I brushed my teeth. After washing my face and combing my hair back in it's usual ponytail I went to the filled dresser.

Jackie told me it was filled with my clothes but what she didn't mention was they were new.

"This is too much." I sighed wondering how in the world I'm going to pay Jason back

Reaching my hand in I grabbed a random plum purple turtle neck and a pair of faded jeans. Changing into the new clothes I noticed they fit exactly to my body unlike my old clothes that were a bit loose. The turtle neck outlined my small waist and slightly large breasts and just barely reached my full hips. Even the jeans clung to my legs.

As much as I wanted to change I had no time, Sarah needs to get to school and Jason refused to let me work until I'm fully recovered. Dabbing the concealer on my face I hissed at the light touch of my fingers. When my bruises were successfully covered I went to Sarah's room which was closer to the stairs.

But when I peeked my head into the bright green room she wasn't there. Even her bed was picked up. Where is she? Slowly I made my way down the ridiculously long staircase where I heard a girlish giggle from another room.

Following the sound I made my way into a newly modeled kitchen. Sitting on the round chestnut colored table was the source of the giggling. Sarah who was fully dressed in a pink long sleeved shirt and dark pants with her glossy brown curls hanging down over her shoulders.

"Good morning sleepy head." came a deep voice

I turned to see Jason standing over the oven with a spatula in his hand. He was grinning as he flipped a grilled cheese in the pan.

Sleepy head? Looking over to the clock above the door I saw it was nearly twelve-thirty I slept in! I've never slept in it must be the medicine I had to take before being released yesterday.

"Oh my god Sarah you missed school." I gasped

"No, Jason took me." Sarah said as she shook her small head

I blinked in surprise, I turned to face Jason who only shrugged like it was nothing. He must of picked her up too. Unable to keep the gratitude off my face I sent him a small smile before taking a seat by Sarah.

"How was school?" I asked as I brushed a stray strand away from her heart shaped face

"It was fun, Haley and I were partners at art today. We drew a castle with two princesses. Look it's on the fridge." she grinned proudly

Just as she said there was a painting on the steel fridge that I bet never had a single paper attached to it before Sarah came along. There were two other paintings on the fridge one of a pink flower and another of Jason's house.
