Chapter 4: Part I

You arrive at the train station ten minutes late despite your efforts. You look around but Gray is Nowhere  in sight, which is good for you because he can't make any comments about your timing. Suddenly, you feel someone grab your arm. Alarmed you turn around and judo-flip your attacker without thinking. It's Gray! "Um...oops?"

"'Oops'?!" He's furious, "I've been looking for you and then you attack me! What was the for?"

"You attacked me first!" But you know that's not true even as you say it, " at least I thought..." You don't bother to finish your sentence.

"Come on, our train will leave soon," he walks towards the platform gesturing for you to follow. You let out a groan at the idea of riding a train, anything but trains, you think.

"Don't tell me, you get motion sickness too?" He asks, starting to get annoyed.

"No, I just..." You don't want to tell him why, fearing he might laugh at you. The tight space combined with the unending swaying was just to uncomfortable for you," I just don't like trains." For Natsu, it was motion sickness, but what did you in was tight spaces. Yup, claustrophobia was your downfall.

Gray let out a cute, you mean annoying, chuckle "Whimp," he said, but it didn't sound like he was teasing you. In any case, you weren't gonna let the comment go.

"Jerk." You punch him in the arm, but instead of really hitting him, it was more playful. He looks at you, confused, but you're too embarrassed to return his gaze. Why did you do that, You ask yourself. You look at your shoes as you walk, your (h/l) pink hair falls over your eyes. Then Gray laughs a soft, wonderful laugh and punches you back. You look up in surprise to find him looking at you. You blush, what is this boy doing to you?, you think. Gray smiles then looks away. Has he ever smiled at you like that? Glaring, definitely, and occasionally a wicked smirk, but a genuine smile? You can't stand this confusion, and there's an odd fluttery feeling in you stomach. The two of you don't say a word as you board the train.

You slept through the whole ride. Gray woke you up at the station. He seemed kind of annoyed, but he always seems like that around you. He grabs your bag from the shelf (probably so he can throw it at you) but quickly puts it down.

"Why is your bag so heavy?" He asks. The backpack he grabbed only has necessities, so his comment confuses you for a bit.

"What do you mean? Are you sure you're not just getting soft?" You tease.

"No, seriously it's-" you both gasp, "it's moving!!" You yell together. You both jump back in shock

"What the-" You start to say as a familiar blue cat pops out.

"HAPPY?!?!"

"I was trying to sleep but you two were so loud!" Happy said sleepily.

"What are you doing here?!" Gray asks.

"What do you mean? " he asks cluelessly.

If Happy's here Natsu can't be far behind. "Where's Natsu?" You ask

"Natsu isn't here, he got on the wrong train,"

"That idiot," Gray mutters

"He followed me?!" You can't believe him,"what was he thinking?!"

"Natsu was mad you went on a job without him,"Happy explained

"Well I would've gone with him, but I got stuck with Gray! That idiot!"

Someone informs you that the train will be departing soon.

"We better get going" Gray says.

The train couldn't stop at the mountains so you are still at least a day away. The three of you have been walking all afternoon and you're getting tired. You sigh loudly. Gray has no reaction, Well that's boring, you think. You sigh again, only louder and more obnoxious.

"Cut it out,"Gray finally says, without so much as a glance in your direction.

"Whatever do you mean?" You ask innocently.

"Just cut it out!" He looks at you. His stare gives you that fluttery feeling again (though it's really more of a glare).

"We're going to have to deal with each other no matter what," you point out for what feels like the tenth time.

"If you really believe that then quit being so annoying!" He yells.

"Ugh!"you shout out in frustration, "you're so infuriating!"

"You're not so like able yourself!"

"I can't believe I'm stuck with you!" You yell at the same time.

"Maybe you should just do the rest by yourself!" He yells at you.

"I was just thinking that!"

"Fine!"

"Fine!" You knew this would happen but you can't believe it. You stand there for a second, unable to move. Gray opens his mouth as if to speak, but you turn around and walk away. You don't bother looking behind to see if gray is still there. You just keep walking, you're better off without that jerk slowing you down, anyways. Happy finally wakes up from his nap in your bag.

"I'm really hungry, where's Gray?" He asks as his stomach growls. You don't answer him, you're too busy thinking about what just happened. After a while you look up.

"We're going separate ways." And just when you thought the two of you could over come your differences, We're going separate ways....

Gray: are you kidding me, that's a terrible place to end!

Natsu: soooo siiick...*urghh*
