"Wait a second. So you are telling me that you want to visit Agastya and apologize to him?" Aditya asked me in an angry tone, when I told him, I wanted to go to Agastya right then, leaving the ball."Yes! I know it sounds bad but I promise, I just want to say sorry to him, for whatever I have done to him. One last time." I said in my defense, last sentence coming out as a desparate plea.
I knew it sounded nonsense to him, but I really needed to go."Suddenly? I can't believe you Lavanya." Aditya clenched his fist.
He was talking to me like that for the first time. All worked up and agitated.
"Do you have an idea what you are talking about?""I don't know, I just want to." I pleaded. We were having this conversation for a half an hour and it wasn't leading to any conclusion.
I was an idiot to keep Aditya on a pedestal where I have to inform him about my actions.
"I am not coming anywhere with you. Do whatever you wish to but let me tell you something." Aditya looked at me with an I GIVE UP ON YOU expression and said "you are going to regret this." Adi pointed his index finger at me and then walked out on me.
"I'll regret not going back to him." I mumbled and wiped the tears away from my face.
Vidyut dropped me, at Agastya's doorstep but it was raining so hard that I still got a little drenched.
I rang the bell multiple times, but Agastya didn't open the door while he had his cars parked, which indicated that he was at home.
Reluctantly, I typed the pin to open the gate. Upon walking inside, I found bottles of alcohol, rolling on the floor, and a cake placed on the center table, that read, "Happy Birthday Nats." There were dead candles on it, the wax had molten onto the cake."Is it her birthday today?" I thought.
But I chose to look for Agastya who was nowhere to be seen. I roamed to the backside of the porche, only to find Agastya, standing bare chest with a pajama on, taking support from the glass door that leads to his backyard, with a knife in his hand, all set to harm himself.
"AGASTYA! STOP!" I screamed for my life.
And before I could think what to do, I leapt for the knife, Agastya's leg slipped and we both fell on the ground of his backyard, which was covered in mud, breaking through the glass door, with my body on the top of him.I saw glass breaking into pieces, falling on us in the mud, the knife pierced through my palm as I held it tightly, and the downpour didn't help.
Agastya whimpered in pain, his body pained as broken pieces of glasses pierced on his biceps, and exposed body parts. But he wasn't even struggling to get up, he looked like he was in some trance.
Tears welled up in my eyes realizing how close that call was.
I would have lost Agastya today if I hadn't come to his house, on time. I wouldn't have seen him again.
I rubbed on his arms and tried to stand up. My backless dress didn't help, for I was in so much pain.
"Agastya! Agastya!" I slapped his face lightly, and he managed to open his eyes, somehow, and saw me staring back at him in pain.I thanked my God for giving Agastya back to me.
I would have died myself if anything had happened to him.The first thing he did was to look at our left and hold my bleeding palm in his hand and I winced in pain because the cut was deep.
"Lav! Are you okay?" He gave out a low cry, holding me up, and cradling me in his lap.
Raindrops fell on our faces, and I hugged him tightly, not caring about the physical pain.
