James POV

It was Sirius' idea. To get Lily to help us with our essays. I gotta, say it was a good one, too. Even though it was a fake, I can't start essays for shit, so Lily really did help a bit. How I was still head over heels for her was beyond me. Well actually it wasn't, because she was beautiful and smart and funny, but I didn't know how long one could be in love with someone for. Until that love runs out, I suppose.

I sat down next to Sirius, shaking my head at Marlene's pathetic joke. If only it were true. My gaze shifted, as my eyes followed the greasy haired Slytherin boy who was in the middle of a group of future death eaters, finishing up his bacon and eggs, then starting on custard. I sneered even though he couldn't see it, and turned back to the conversation.

"You know, James sometimes I think you have a crush on Snape," Sirius stated.

Both Peter and Remus stifled their laughter. I glared at both of them, and looked in front of me to see Lily also trying to contain giggles.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah."

"You wanna take that back?" I ask.

"Nope," he said, popping the p.

"Really? How are you going to get into the Quidditch team next year?"

"What's makes ya think you'll be captain?"

"Oh, just the fact that I'm captain right now."

"Uh huh."

"We're going to have a great time at training tonight..." I said evilly.

"Uh..."

I smiled evilly at Sirius and grabbed the pumpkin juice. I poured some into my glass and looked up at the Slytherin table, to see Snivellus fumbling with his custard. And inspiration struck.

"Let's fill the Slytherin common room with custard!"

At half nine, when most of the castle was asleep, Peter, Remus, Sirius and I all snuck down to the dungeons, putting our plan into action. It took a while, with intricate little spells Remus had to do twice and shit like that, but other than that it all went according to plan. Until Lily caught us.

"What do you think you're doing?!" She whisper-yelled.

"Well... it looks like we're putting custard in the Slytherin common, doesn't it?" Sirius asked.

"Yes, admittedly it does," she said.

"Is that what you'd like to think?"

"No. I would like to think you're putting jelly in their common room, but it seems it's custard instead."

What a shock. The four of us stood opened mouthed in the middle of the corridor. We were going to run, but this is way more fun.

"That's an idea for next week then, Evans," I said.

She narrowed her eyes, doing only the slightest of smiles.

"So long as I don't catch you," she said mischievously.

"Are you inviting yourself?" Peter spoke up.

"Maybe..."

I smiled. We all walked back to the common room together, planning the jelly attack for next Saturday. I wonder if someone from Slytherin annoyed Lily.

Lily POV

I caught the Marauders lurking around the open entrance to the Slytherin common room. I saw the strange yellow colour and immediately recognised it as custard.

"What do you think you're doing?!" I said angrily, but amused at the same time.

"Well... it looks like we're putting custard in the Slytherin common, doesn't it?" Sirius asked.

"Yes, admittedly it does," I said.

"Is that what you'd like to think?"

"No. I would like to think you're putting jelly in their common room, but it seems it's custard instead," I said, the words slipping out of my mouth.

What a shock. The four boys stood opened mouthed in the middle of the corridor. I had really done it this time. I was such an idiot.

"That's an idea for next week then, Evans," James said with a smile.

I narrowed her eyes, doing only the slightest of smiles. I couldn't believe it. Now James was taking my idea and using it as a prank. I mean Potter. Potter stole my idea.

"So long as I don't catch you," I said mischievously. I knew I was going to get in on this prank, seeing as it was mine.

"Are you inviting yourself?" Peter spoke up.

"Maybe..." I trailed off evilly, otherwise, it would have been detention for all except Remus.

We walked back to the common room, and contemplated ideas for how we were going to pull of this prank. I found myself in bed 10 minutes later, wondering why on earth I had agreed to help the Marauders. They weren't supposed to find a friend in me. In fact we were enemies. Except for Remus. What if I became the fifth Marauder? Now that's a scary thought. Listening to James. Now way. I didn't like it. But if I was completely honest, I didn't despise it either. Let's face it, nobody liked the Slytherin's, so getting them back at all the stuff they've done to me before... it's justice and fun.

The next morning we prepared for our classes, and found that when we got to the Great Hall next to none of the Slytherin's were there. To be honest when they did arrive, it was chaos. There was laughter and shouting everywhere. And no one knew that I was there, patrolling the corridors, just letting them off. Most of the Slytherin's hate was directed at the Marauders, ad they were the suspects. Eventually Professor Dumbledore calmed everyone down, and cancelled the first three classes of the day for 'pending investigation'. I was sort of disappointed, but then I realised we had double History of Magic, and let's face it, no one likes that class.

Back in the common room my group had joined with the Marauders and were chatting about their latest prank. When I arrived in the common room they all greeted me and I sat down at the foot of the couch, at Marlene and Alice's feet. For some strange reason, I liked sitting at their feet. And the rug in the common room was quite thick, so you didn't even notice the hardness of the ground. James sat across from me at Peter's feet for once, and Sirius was being flogged by Remus at chess. No sooner had I sat down, I heard Professor McGonagall call my name.

"Miss Evans, you were on patrol last night, were you not."

"Yes, Professor."

"Near the Slytherin common room?"

"Yes, Professor."

"Did you see anything when you were there, like people skulking around places enchantments to put all of the custard down in the common room?"

"No, Professor. If anyone was there, they must have just missed me, because I was patrolling up and down those corridors."

"Ok, please let me know if you find anything out, and if you recall anything peculiar."

"Yes, Professor."

She left the common room with no further discussion, and everyone in our little group laughed at me in astonishment.

"Hey, it was a good prank!" I exclaimed.

"Are you falling for James, Lily?"

"What, no! I have an evil streak, too you know?" I said indignantly.
