"What do you mean he spoke to you?"

"He spoke to me!" I pointed to Thayer's still body with a crazed look in my eyes. "I swear, he talked!"

"Farrah..."

I knew that look that Dr. Marie was giving me. It was the same look that my parents used to give me when I would have nightmares about my grandmother's murder.

Pure sympathy.

"I'm not crazy!" I growled. "I didn't imagine it!"

Grabbing my arm gently, Dr. Marie helped me back into my seat before pulling up a chair right beside of me.

"Farrah, you haven't focused on anything but Thayer for two weeks. I understand why, but it's not healthy. You need to go out, take your mind off of everything. It's what Thayer would want."

"You don't believe me." I whispered in disbelief. "You think that I hallucinated his voice, don't you?"

She looked away from me, her silence giving me my answer.

"Why don't you believe me?" I demanded. "You should be happy! Thayer's showing huge signs of progress, but instead of running tests, you simply want to believe that I'm crazy!"

"Farrah..." She hesitated before continuing. "I did run tests. I ran them as soon as you told me that he spoke. Nothing in his vitals have changed. No signs of progress were found. I just can't believe that he spoke when there is no evidence to support it."

"There has to been something!"

She shook her head, sympathy still in her eyes. "I'm sorry, but there isn't."

I dropped my head into my hands. "I-I just don't understand."

I know that I didn't imagine his voice. I know that he spoke.

"Just take a few days for yourself. Distance yourself from Thayer, and take your mind off of everything. It will benefit both you and Thayer, I promise."

I squeezed my eyes shut.

"Just...get out."

I know that she was right. I needed time away, but I just couldn't bring myself to admit it.

"Farrah..."

"Get out!" I roared, exploding out of my seat. "Get the fuck out!"

She bowed her head in submission, her whimpers of fear haunting my dark soul as she scurried out of the room as fast as she could. I slammed the door shut after her, the loud bang echoing through the silent house. I knew that everyone was listening to me, which made my blood boil, yet a sharp pang of shame filled me as well.

And they think that I'm a Luna.

Walking back over to Thayer's still body, I squinted my eyes as I assessed him. His breathing was still labored, his hands still clammy, and his back swollen and red from the injury.

He looked the exact same, except when I looked closer, I saw a small smirk on
his lips that I could have sworn wasn't there before.

I growled in annoyance.

Of course he waits until the doctor leaves to start showing progress again.

"You're a douche bag, you know that right?"

The fingers on his left hand twitched once.

Of course.
