Chapter 61

This first thing I notice as I start regaining consciousness is a throbbing headache that makes me wince in pain. I try and recall a reason why my head would be hurting so much but before I can process anything I get the answer why as I feel a rough hit to the back of my head. I try to react by going to swing at whoever just hit me but find my next problem of my arms being tied down to a chair. "Look who decided to wake up" the voice of a slightly recognisable guy says as I slowly open one eye and attempt to adjust to my surroundings.

As I get my eyes open it's obvious to me where I was as the golden lighting and extravagant furnishing around instantly gives it away. Hatter's room. I look up and my eyes land on Aguni who sits opposite me with the same empty cold look as before. "What's the code for the weapons" the voice of the guy standing behind me says again as I just scoff at the fact that he won't even show himself. "Why would I do that" I say keeping my eyes on Aguni already giving up on trying to figure him out.

"We'll kill you" the voice says in a threatening way as he grabs the back of my hair and pulls my head back as I can only react and face the ceiling. I just end up laughing as I don't bother fighting back against the guy that I'm still trying to place why he seems familiar. "Alright then you won't get the code idiot" I say before feeling a sharp blade against my throat. "What do we do with Hatter's killer Aguni" the voice says as it finally clicks in my mind.

It took so long to recognise the boy since when I last spoke to him he was a sniffling mess that wasn't exactly helping out with the issue of Hatter's body. I wonder if the other two that found Hatter know about this kids attempt to pin it all on me. Aguni stays silent as he just lets out a low sigh while I hear him shift from his seat. "How would she tell us the code if she's dead" Aguni says in a monotoned voice before a huff is heard behind me and the blade against my neck moves away.

I feel another rough hit to the back of my head which knocks me forward slightly as I can now look over to Aguni that stands over me. I gulp since Aguni was admittedly very intimidating with his physical standing as well as his current wavering mental clarity. "What do you suggest we do" Aguni asks the boy behind me but keeps his eyes on me the entire time. "If we can't kill her we could torture the information out of her" the boy says and I easily catch onto the venom in his voice.

I know the reason he's doing this is because he's frightened that with the current game people will look for Hatter's killer which narrows it down to the people that found Hatter's body. "I mean sure you could do that but do you really think it'd work" I say a cocky tone obvious to everyone listening. "Even if you don't we can just call it revenge for trying to put Hatter's murder on us innocent civilians" the boy says as I just laugh a little. "Now that's very funny isn't it Aguni" I say sending a slight glare towards Aguni.

In response Aguni sends a quick and harsh punch to my gut as I just cough a little from the impact. He was so much stronger than I expected. This situation isn't ideal but looking back I'm glad I ran from the one on one fight against Aguni since there's no way I would've been able to beat him. I might be able to get myself out of this situation though since I should be able to outsmart Aguni and this idiot behind me. "You have to wonder what secrets I might end up spilling oh I'd be so curious if I were you" I say and keep my eyes firmly locked onto Aguni as I see his jaw tense.

In the corner of my eye I see the guy behind me about to try and stab me with his knife but just as he starts swinging towards me Aguni grabs the boys arm and stops him. "I didn't give you the go ahead did I" Aguni says in a threatening manner as I just grin from my seat knowing I could play my way out of this. "She just admitted to having secrets though" the boy tries to argue in return but Aguni doesn't pay him a second thought.

A small glare from Aguni was enough to shut the boy up in an instant as I hear a small and fragile apology. "You could always use the fire to cover up any secrets Aguni" I say as Aguni steps back and looks down at me obviously slightly confused since it just seemed like I was suggesting they burn me in the fire downstairs. "I mean since we know who killed Hatter and all" I say as Aguni regains his strong posture but I notice the pale look on his face.
