kyorin followed jay into the restaurant begrudgingly as she didn't expect them to wind up there. she was expecting them to get ramen at the convenience store around the corner. getting into jay's car and buckling kiwoo into the backseat was the last thing she expected as she had anticipated the five minute walk. had she known they would be dining in a restaurant, she wouldn't be there in her not so best looking hoodie.
she contemplated asking jay to just drive them back to the convenience store, but the loud conversations and the sizzling sounds of broth being poured into bowls caught her attention. the steam filled the air, carrying the rich, savory scent of miso and soy sauce. it was cozy and warm, the perfect little escape on a chilly evening.
kiwoo's small hand was firmly gripping kyorin's as he was attempting to contain his excitement for dinner. the moment they sat down at a table, kiwoo immediately started bouncing in his seat, clearly excited for his ramen. kyorin laughed at his antics and jay couldn't help but feel a little amused too, watching the younger brother's energy.
"hey, jay," kiwoo suddenly piped up, turning to face him with his wide, curious eyes. "do you like ramen? do you eat it all the time?"
jay chuckled at the barrage of questions. he wasn't used to kids being so direct. "yeah, i like ramen. not all the time, but i do eat it often.
"i like ramen too!" kiwoo exclaimed, his hands flailing around as if he was giving a demonstration of his excitement. "can i have extra noodles?"
"extra noodles?" jay raised an eyebrow, "you really like ramen that much?"
kiwoo nodded vigorously. "yeah, i can eat so much! maybe even more than you!"
kyorin, who had been eyeing the menu, chuckled and turned to jay. "i think kiwoo's secretly a ramen monster. he eats like three bowls at once."
"i'll have to see that to believe it," jay said with a grin, enjoying the banter.
just then, the waiter came to take their order. kyorin ordered for them, asking for the tonkatsu ramen set for herself and a "monster-sized" ramen bowl for kiwoo. she turned to jay, her eyebrows raised, "what about you?"
jay smiled, pushing his menu aside, "i'll pay for this. i wanted to treat you guys."
kyorin raised a brow at him, a little surprised. "seriously? we could've just gone to the convenience store and grabbed instant ramen. it would've been cheaper."
"i know, but this feels more right, you know? i want to pay for dinner." jay said, his eyes twinkling slightly.
kyorin chuckled softly, clearly touched but trying not to show it. "okay, okay, mr. generous. but next time, we're doing convenience store ramen."
